  1. Phantom had a good run. Good energy for such an early season run. Crowd ate it up.
  2. So just watched Madison and Boston Two good early season performances Boston has biten off a tough program with a very dark sound and pallete. One of those shows you can't really judge until mid seaskn Scouts have a fun program but they are understandably a little rough right now. Corps seems young. Marched just two tenors. Back to the show
  3. I'm really not taking anything away from those GREAT lines. At least that's not the intention. I personally just felt Star was forward thinking and Devils were doing what they were doing very very well. Which was rewarded by the judges year to year is really out of our control.
  4. we've had props a lot longer than 2 decades and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't... same as it's always been, a bit more this year but that tends to happen and then it will swing back
  5. I wasn't talking about scores. I was speaking to MY perception as a listener. That's all. Star felt very ahead of the other lines back in the 90-93 era. In terms of what they were attempting and achieving. How that was reflected on score sheets of the time is beyond my comprehension. Heck I thought 1993 Star should have won finals by 5 points (and I'm a Cadets fan!) - they were just THAT far ahead and the crowd/dci community clearly needed some time to catch up. A lot of what we see on the field with Crown these days - the tilting in and out of files, the body movement, the gongs and bells all over the field, the middle voice runs - all made their debut from Star during that 4 year run.
  6. wind causes real issues with flags - they should go too.
  7. the show is top three It will be interesting to see how well they clean it this year and how it grows throughout the season - potential is there!
  8. Sorry I should have been more specific. Flu virus running thru cadets battery.
  9. Crown lost music to cadets LY as well Cadets will pull away in drums. Let them get healthy.
  10. He placed them above in content, below in achievement and below overall.
  11. Harper & Cook judged in Indy also and had Cadets over Crown 0.2 and 0.1 in their respective captions - so quite close Czapinksi who judged in Indy isn't judging tonight, she had Cadets over Crown by 0.6 in GE Visual on Saturday which was their largest caption margin over Crown
  12. GE#1 J. Harper GE#2 S. Adamo Visual Analysis R. Kemp Perc Perf J. Ausdemore Music Analysis A. Cook
  13. Crown has been the class the last few seasons but I don't see nearly the "separation" between them and the rest of the activity that Star had the last few years on the field.
  14. Exactly. Let's face it people remember finals night. Even Quarterfinals results become forgotten only 2 nights later!
  15. This topic pops up every year What is "complete"? I'd say the shows aren't finished until the last performance, as we are always adding and changing things right up until the end That's all! G.
  16. People seem to be particularly snarky the start of this season lol IMO the best horn line I've heard so far is Blue Devils - but seeing as I've only heard them online who knows. I'd imagine Crown's program will undergo a good deal of revision this year compared to last - so while they are obviously very talented and skilled time will tell if they can stave off Devils, Cadets and possibly the Coats G.
  17. I'm not sure what any of this is being based on... Cadets brass "not as close to Crown & BD as in past years"?? "Crown percussion much improved" etc... a little presumptious for June 21st IMO
  18. For some reason the old Dutchboy corps just popped in my head.
  19. I'm thinking if they can figure out a way to get the trumpets up on the stage during Burlesque and the snares up there during a solo they will be in good position. Seems like visually they are in a much better place than last year and musically they are once again very strong. If they can pull some good ge out of the show they will be a tough and balanced competitor.
  20. and a tenor... I was just saying that the first show can be a bit iffy... if in a week or two Crown is 0.1 off Cadets in percussion then I'd say that's a great sign for their drums... Just let's all give it a while. A week at least until any of us read to much into this
