  1. You mean DCI doesn't have crazy stalker fans? Also, someone do the math. Perhaps DCI had a total of 14 million viewers on PBS over the entire life of the broadcasts on PBS [not for any single year]. That might be more realistic.
  2. I figured out a long time ago while looking in a mirror.
  3. It's true that those sounding Taps at Veterans' services predominately play Trumpet, Cornet or Soprano. Don't let that stop you though. At the Echo Taps event in New York state 2005 just about every brass voice was included.
  4. Bugles Across America is everywhere! If you aren't already a member check us out: www.buglesacrossamerica.org
  5. OMG, I hope the only drain clogged was the shower and not the [nevermind].
  6. Thankfully I have mine. Another way to listen is to be a Fan Network subscriber. Up to and including 2010 you have the option of audio or video.
  7. Heck, gas was in the 25 cents range when I started driving. Love the VW bus in the picture too.
  8. Sorry, so much for my copy and paste skills. No wonder I flunked Kindergarten.
  9. I had never seen a corps. But when a fellow trumpet player took me to a practice in fall 1966 I was hooked.
  10. OK, let's fire up the time machine and someone start a thread titled "New shows made old".
  11. I remember the '71 stop. My parents were home in CA and watched you get soaked at halftime. So glad your corps pulled it together for VFW Dallas.
  12. Seriously? Besides Madison in 94, 95, 04 + 09 ---- 1973 Argonne Rebels 1973 Blue Stars 1975 Oakland Crusaders 1976 Northern Aurora 1976 Oakland Crusaders 1976 Pembroke Imperials 1976 Titans 1977 Northern Aurora 1978 Blue Stars 1978 Titans 1979 Ventures 1981 Freelancers 1981 Valiant Knights 1983 Ambassadors 1984 Ambassadors 1984 Florida Wave 1986 Florida Wave 1989 Florida Wave 1998 Phoenix 2001 Chevaliers 2003 Dutch Boy 2011 Spirit of New Jersey (from corpsreps.com) and not including DCA or international corps.
  13. Nope, and I do know a lot about the activity which I have gained over 45 years. What I was trying to point out is how I would feel if I knew little or nothing about the activity. This may or may not be the case with the OP.
  14. The way this thread has gone, if I had a young child wanting to go into the activity I would definitely say "No Way!". That's my opinion and is based solely upon the comments in this tread.
  15. Also made for interesting stare downs while on the field if your drill position put you facing your competitors on the ready line.
  16. How could I forget! Got the amazing crowd reaction in 1970 and it was an honor to perform there with the Kilties 2004/2006.
  17. I gave mine away to the local HS band director.
  18. Well put but that was not my intentions of my original post. I was just envisioning a chance to see both in the same venue. And, as others have pointed out that comparison is still available in DCA.
  19. Let it go a long time ago as for returning there EVER. P.S. Praise the lord for Legacy Collection.
  20. VK's was good but it was the visual interpretation that kicked arse.
  21. Love them too. I was standing backstage for their show at the mini-corps show 2010 and was yelling as loud as those in the audience.
