  1. Vessel IF approved by DCI will be an exhibition corps only. I believe 5 local shows. No competition or tour for the first year.
  2. I marched with a Jr Corps where Vince Bruni was director and David was our Drum Major. I went in the Marine Corps after the 82 season otherwise I would have been with Statesmen that first year. It took me 27 years but I FINALLY got to be a part of the Statesmen family. Favorite memories are the first time I put on that uniform and performed as part of the Corps. Also 2013 (a very bittersweet year) Our first note when we were in Lewisburg and seeing the crowd jumping out of their seats. Also Hornell performing with CorpsVets during the encore and out in the parking lot. Amazing times! The saddest moment was when I took off that uniform after retreat in 2013 knowing it was the last time ever Statesmen would take the field in competition. On a side note: Props to Cru, I remember seeing them perform back in the late 70's and early 80's impressive bunch of folks!! Rochester had such a rich history of Drum Corps (as did the entire state of NY) Sad to see almost every corps gone. We have to leave it all to the White Sabers to Keep up the NY tradition of Drum Corps excellence.
  3. Finally!! My first time going, I can't wait. See you all on the 50
  4. Ah, the crazy ideas we come up with while enjoying a nice brunch. I know we can raise the funds. I can't wait to see Mike shivering on the shore!!
  5. Sad day for Drum Corps, I remember Chops working with Cadets of Greece back in the day.
  6. SoCal Dream..... wait for it..... announcement coming soon!
  7. Just bought 2, because I believe in the Dream!! C'mon people.... I challenge you
  8. Let's make DCA's 50th a great bash!! It would be great to help a 3 time DCA Class A finalist come back! Support Dream AND get a really cool looking shirt! It is a Win-Win
  9. Help us get back for the 50th Anniversary help fulfill our Dream!!!
  10. Depends what you want?? For drill, I use drill book. Pretty cool app lets me put in my coordinates so I don't have to carry anything but my phone on the field. If you want scores I have DCI scores and WG scores. I have a couple of metronomes and tuners Best corps app is for Madison Scouts, but Blue Coats, Phantom, BD and Cadets also have pages. Scouts is best because they have recordings of their shows since like 1953
  11. Memorizing Georgia and can't wait until this weekend to blow the audience away!! Safe travels :thumbup:/>
  12. I am interested in DCI 1988 and 1989 as well as the whole Madison set.
  13. TRacer: There are many corps in the SoCal area, and please don't think all corps perform eclectic shows to just please the judges! Even better, you and your son can participate together in all-age corps!!!! If you went to Walnut etc last year, there was a very entertaining all-age corps who performed a Star Trek show, and had a BLAST!! (Dream) SCV Cadets went old school and Gold and Impulse were still entertaining as well.... don't base the Drum Corps world on just one corps. Hope to see you this year at our California competitions
  14. My first All-Age corps I marched with was the USMC MCAGCC Drum and Bugle Corps... 29 Palms CA Drum and Bugle Corps. So I miss them, and would be remiss if I did not mention USMC D&B from Albany GA as well. :thumbup:/> Semper Fi!!
  15. I have always said Drum Corps is ahead of social norms. It didn't matter your race, sex or sexual orientation etc as long as you could drum, twirl or play! As far as showers etc.... I think everyone was too hot, sticky, nasty and tired to worry too much about things like that. We changed on busses etc at show sites, and they were coed busses, and we weren't too concerned with anyone "checking us out". Also BITD homosexuality was not out in the open, I know I was pretty naive on that topic and didn't really concern myself with that issue.
  16. A fitting show for Joe & Sandy. Can't wait to see you on the field
  17. Best show ever in DCA.... 2010 Statesmen!!!!! OZ was AMAZING!
  18. Dream Camp coming up on the 24th of March! Let's fill up the horn line and drum line.... Gonna be a Great year!!
  19. We are still moving towards our goal.... please help Dream achieve our Dream!! Not only will you help a great cause (drum corps) but can get get some cool Star Trek stuff. Check out our web page for more information. socaldream.org.
  20. A real tragedy that Dream had a huge crowd response last year with a very popular show..... tragedy that Dream is "only" competing in 8 shows this year...... A tragedy that Dream is wisely staying home this season in order to fund raise to attend championships for DCA's 50th anniversary. If that is tragedy, I will take that any day of the week!!:cool:/>
  21. We are still looking for supporters for our uniform campaign! Awesome gifts for those who donate 1000.00. What a great chance to collect some really cool memorabilia AND better yet, support Drum Corps! SoCal Dream is offering, for two special donors of $1000 pledge, Star Trek memorabilia Autograph by Emmy award winning Star Trek make-up artist Michael Westmore. The donors will get our 2012 Star Trek Inspired “To Boldly Go” Tops, a Limited Edition Next Generation Alien T-Shirts from Comic Con 1995 By Comic Book Artist Terry Pallot and The Next Generation “Behind the Scenes” Trading Card from Skybox in December 1993.
  22. Another great rehearsal! Dream moves towards its goal of entertaining audiences and working to once again attend DCA championships for the 50th anniversary of DCA. Help us go in style, donate towards Dream's uniform drive! We are busy working our book for 2013 and plan on 8 shows this summer! We proudly present our show Q. If you want to know more.... join us at our next camp. Check out our web page at socaldream.org. See you on the 50!!
