  1. So does that mean the Scouts could have gotten a penalty for this BITD?
  2. Thanks for the info. I should be in the area that weekend.
  3. That would be kind of like a Tarantino movie (like Reservoir Dogs).
  4. Definitely can agree with that! Some great shows and moments: Cadets- Drum feature and slow-mo fight sequence BD- The drumline. Say a Little Prayer Cavies- Upside-down tenors and upside-down everything Crown- Paint it Black PR- Elsa's SCV- Narration at the beginning Bluecoats- Creep Blue Knights- Old Fife Style drum feature and many more.
  5. What part of Crown's pre-show? It wasn't the snare solo into the drum feature, was it?
  6. Been listening to some 1996 Madison, 1996 and 1995 Phantom, and 1997 Magic lately.
  7. Maybe all the people with the "rights" to these people could just stop getting their undies in a wad, and appreciate it for what it is. Nobody is trying to destroy or bastardize the music (be it musically or visually). Also, I will have to say that I like the way the corps move to some of these tunes rather than the original performers. Especially in the case of some of the more modern pop/rock/hip-hop tunes.
  8. AGREED!!! The 1992 show, and the percussion that were part of the book, is why I fell in love with the drum corps activity. Mark Thruston's writing is what drove me to want to be part of the Crossmen, but when I finally got the chance to audition (and made it), he was with Spirit. No complaints, I loved my time with Bones, but indirectly Thurston had a major impact on my music career (marching and now teaching).
  9. There is still WAY more positive than negative coming out of the drum corps activity. To tear it down, and the hard work the kids put in and the joy they get out of it, is irresponsible.
  10. Did like the '08 "Knockout" show. The part with the bass drum solo and the whole speed bag effect going on was really cool!
  11. A guy on the staff with connections to Beatrix. Maybe Spring training for the drumline in Amsterdam?
  12. Looks like: 1st- 1992 (28 votes) 2nd- 1991 (9 votes) 3rd- 1998 (8 votes) 4th- 1990 (7 votes) You can't go wrong with any of those shows!
  13. Maybe this will make all parties happy. You get Trittico, and BK still gets to continue moving in a new direction.
  14. We are actually in year 9 with our drums. Structurally they are fine, but I did have to refinish them last year as the white was starting to look cream colored. It was an absolute chore of a job to get that done. We have Yamahas and the snares and tenors had a sort of foil backed laminent that was glued at just about every square inch. It took almost 3-4 hours per drum to strip the cover, then scrape the glue off, then lightly sand them smooth. After that process was done, I stained them a dark purple (as that is the school color), and painted all the hardware black, and so now they look great with a dark purple color, but yet you can still see the wood-grain through the color. We get compliments on them all the time.
  15. The effluvium coming from the uniforms half way through tour was almost unbearable. Hopefully they will be dry cleaned tomorrow. New word: SEVER
  16. The Bluecoats have had some very fun and entertaining shows over the years, but I have only included the years in which they made finals. 2007 is my number 1, but 2005 is a close 2nd, and 1996 was a fun concept.
