A big factor is your confidence level, personality, and how personable you are. (Im sure you know playing ability and listening are also huge factors). You're going to be spending the summer with these people, so personality is huge. Oh, attitude is a pretty big factor as well. Hope this helped!

Haha. We should keep going with the wedding theme. I just come here for a good laugh every once in a while -
This is a great change. I totally believe in Paul. I'd take Dynasty's vibes over Adam's any day. Good bye 2 octave overtones!!

Inside the Arc - "The Pit That Ate Drum Corps"
Pipifer replied to DCP Commentary's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Wow, do you realize how you're affecting our (the current dci members) opinion on alumni drum corps members? It's blowing it out of proportion. It's fine that you don't like the pit, I get it, but to say that we are completely useless and should be cut all together is rediculous and offensive. This whole forum is a bit over the top with arguing about electronics. Opinions are cool and everyone has them, but nobody is going to change anyone's opinion through a DCP forum. Now I know why my corps director told me to stay away from this site. -
The most underrated shows of the last decade
Pipifer replied to MisterA's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
2007 Bluecoats "Criminal" was so amazing! It was the first drum corps show I saw and I will never forget it. Even looking back on it now it seems their placement was so low for how clean their drumline was. So much energy...and the ending was priceless -
The most underrated shows of the last decade

I LOVE 2007 Phantom Regiment "On Air". One of my personal all-time shows. There was such a great flow and feeling to the show. The drum parts were so great and sooo clean, it lined up so well with brass and pit parts. I also really enjoyed 2008 Carolina Crown "Finis", the pit parts were really cool and the hornline was also very fun to listen to. -
What's the Best DCI show NOT to win?

This was really tough. I'm in love with both 2006 Phantom Regiment and 1993 Star definitely should have won. Fantastic shows! -

Will thunderous goo become less of a problem?

I like having a low end synth part support the brass, I think it makes a drum corps really fill up a stadium with their sound. But it could go either way for me, I'm good with whatever =O) -

Today's Field Pass with Paul Rennick
Pipifer replied to SFZFAN's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Paul and Sandi Rennick joining SCV is a huge step forward. The Rennicks have always done a fantastic job styling the percussion parts to fit in with horn parts (which is why Phantom sounded so great IMO.) They definitely have a shot at winning drums again this year, but I think it'll take a little bit longer for the entire corps to get in to the top 3 or even win. -

Who is most likely to win drums in 2011?
Pipifer replied to spiritofboston's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Everyone who didn't age out from the 2010 Phantom pit and battery followed the Rennicks to SCV. It's a fact. -
When woodwinds are added....
Pipifer replied to BozzlyB's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Pretty old school, meaning you haven't adjusted to today's style of drum corps. Synths and electronics are a great addition to drum corps. The pit can WAY more musical and we actually have to be clean now, instead of just ramming dirty 16th note runs like they did in the 90s and before that. Syths added a new direction for some of the groups. Look at the Bluecoats, they use the synths to add different effects and combine sounds with a brass instruments. Electronics play a big role in drum corps now and will continue to in the future, even though some people still fail to realize it. Btw, marching band doesn't use the same schedule as drum corps does, they don't practice for full/half days for 3 1/2 months. However, I don't want woodwinds in drum corps....ever. DCI would lose a fan and member.
