  1. No disrespect, and I haven't read your post yet, but I'm pretty sure there's at least two other threads like this on the first page. Again, please don't take this like I don't like your post (not that it matters one bit what I think lol!). I don't agree or disagree with what your post probably says, just things are easier to read in consolidation lol.
  2. I think they were a little late bringing those show flags in last year as well now that I remember, could be wrong.
  3. As a long-time Crown fan (not just the good years, and I admit I'm a homer), I would have to honestly say visual, and in some segments show design. Guard was only their weak point in 2009, and they're recovering from that. My biggest complaint with that is why fix what wasn't broken? No need to bring Sage in when the rest of the staff were doing just fine IMO. Also, as for last year, I believe there is an inherent design flaw with basing shows around numbers (SCV 08, Cascades that one year, CC 2010). No matter how you slice it, you have to rely on the performance of those shows b/c there isn't much you can really do with number themed shows.
  4. I've noticed too. Cadets and Phantoms aren't that dark, and SCV's is more of a shade of gray, even though both show themes would suggest much darker.
  5. I really like the little system you got going there. IMO, the weakest years of the past few years (2000s) are 2004, 2007 (really top 3 or 4, like the bottom half), and maybe a smidgen of 2006. People really faulted 2001 back then but now you hear the same people claim some of those shows as their favorites. Haven't seen any live shows this year and won't until late July, but what I've heard I about agree with you on most of this give or take some.
  6. I haven't actually seen the show for real (just on the Voldemort website), but the arrangements were a little underwhelming. It looks like, though I can't really tell from far away, that the guard is once again wearing some brown color. You can love or hate Michael Shapiro's guard work (too busy vs. incredible), but his costume choices have always been a little iffy for me *coughCrown2002cough*
  7. Wow, Troopers are within .2 of the Glassmen! Looks like Pioneer is gaining a little ground hopefully.
  8. How was The Knockout from the WGI model?
  9. Did they add "you're so f-in special" in its place?
  10. And I actually gave my to vote to Bluecoats and Boston Crusaders as favorite openers.
  11. I think we can all agree that this is the Scala version of Creep. I like both, but give the edge to Scala over Radiohead's great original. Does this matter? Not at all....
  12. I predict, if anything, Blue Stars guard will keep them afloat once they're clean.
  13. A little OT here, but I'm always confused when someone in WGI says they "marched together in WGI." And I'm not talking about the percussion, but guard people say this. Unless it's the 80's, chances are you didn't march in your show.
  14. Yeah, I was thinking about Jessica Allen as well (not in that way!). Very talented and was with BD for awhile, not to mention easy on the eyes.
  15. Fair enough. I respect your opinion, just like we all have them. I don't see this as complaining though, and people always will say stating your opinion is complaining. I'm not a web stalker so I don't follow posts, but if you say "I don't dig Poulan, probably never will," that is just a statement that any of us could make about x corps or y arranger.
  16. I know there's the matter of taste, but what's wrong with 03'? I would say if you bought 04' SCV into the equation, that was arguably more entertaining than some of those Cavies years (the odd years).
  17. I blame Glee. Mashing up completely different styles of music. (Of course I'm being tongue in cheek....hard to sound a certain way online)
  18. Drum corps, or heck, any marching arts, is inherently cheesy to people outside of the activity. They can't get passed the uniforms, which awesome to us, look pretty darn cheesy when you think about it outside of context. So yeah, people in ugly uniforms marching to some awesome music, pretty cheesy.
  19. Drum corps costs a lot of money, and not everyone lives in that area. If they do, they're going to try out for Madison (if they're a guy of course). Pioneer did respectable in 2000 by beating some corps, of course there were more corps back then but that doesn't change anything. It's a good thing they are around, as the same can't be said for Tarheel Sun, Kiwanis Kavaliers, Southwind, and other corps that were around just ten years ago. (I noticed that it's obvious that "well of course they're around and others aren't anymore, duh")
  20. This is interesting, b/c I really didn't like that Madison show (at the time, it's really not bad to listen to though). I was really looking forward to this year's SCV, and I'm not going to count them out yet. The concept, some of the selections, everything just seemed like a little return to form. I'm still waiting for late 90's, heck, even early 2000's SCV. They come around here and there in different years since then, but they are one of the most inconsistent corps (even if they are one of my favorites). Oh, and not sure why somebody minus'd you...
