  1. Noted. I don't know how they've been run over the years, so I'll take your word for it.
  2. Actually, your example is not perfect in that the scenario you describe has no resemblance to how DCI operates...at least, not as far as I know. Correct me if I'm wrong, but DCI has an annual meeting of the bulk of the constituent corps members who decide the broad direction and an eight person Executive committee, three of whom are not corps directors, who handle day-to-day decisions and implementation of the decisions of the larger body. I don't see the dangers you describe really being a problem for DCI.
  3. Again...I really don't go in for knee jerk reactions. Heck, I think I'm too new in this whole thing to do something like that. Now, what others do is, of course, their business. They can jerk their knees as much as they want. Anyway, I don't think anyone wants to "shut out the top tier corps". If anyone wants to shut out any corps, it seems the 7 are the ones with that desire.
  4. I don't really go in for knee jerk reactions, so most of your post is irrelevant to me. I will make one comment, though. At this moment, the top corps have just as much say in the activity as any other corps. They have the same one vote at the annual meeting. What appears to be happening now, though, is that this group of 7 corps want to have ALL the say. That, in my mind, is unacceptable. I suppose we'll see soon what's in the minds of the other corps.
  5. I really have no sympathy for the frustrations of the 7...after all, they brought their current position upon themselves.
  6. The best interest should be whatever the majority of the Corps deem it to be...not what a select 7 decides.
  7. Maybe not for just these, but if you add BAC, Scouts, Blue Knights and Blue Stars...and maybe toss in Jersey Surf...and you very well might see just as many butts. Heck, I might even spring for a trip to Indy to see all these corps. (though I would miss seeing the innovation of BD)
  8. The only problem with your suggestion is your assumption that those top three corps, in any way, can be assured of considering the best interests of DCI over their own (or other's) interests. Given the proposals of 2010, that assurance is dubious.
  9. Number one is most likely to happen. Number two is what I most would like to see. If number three happens, I'll continue to follow the performances of Blue Knights but I won't spend another dime on DCI.
  10. The problem is that only 7 particular corps, if they remain in a block, will always have control over all the other corps...whether they are in the top 12 or not. That is not a good situation for DCI.
  11. I think there is a difference between "looking to the future" and attempting to take control of an organization to direct the course of that future. The 7's attempt to stack the BoD deck is nothing more than their latest attempt to take control...with the added threat of taking their ball and going home if they don't get their way.
  12. How about: "Mr. Hopkins, please don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you."
  13. Sad news. The BOD are a class act for making the tough call. I look forward to seeing them in San Antonio in July 2014.
  14. Thanks, y'all. I did a youtube search and it's been done by other corps...most notably PR. But, I guess I don't have to tell y'all that. I wonder if BK will use it for an encore or if it's in the show? Awaiting further announcements from BK.
  15. Video from December camp: What is that music?
  16. I don't think either uniform is "ugly". I find the WC uniform to be interesting: the collar, the white shoulders, black arms, white gauntlets...should make for some interesting upper body effects on the field. I'm assuming the Colts will design their show with that in mind. I'm looking forward to seeing them next season.
  17. Am I correct in understanding that one uniform is for the Colts and the other uniform is for the Colt Cadets?
  18. Variety is the spice of life. Last season we had everything from old school Jersey Surf to avant guard Blue Devils and everything in between. It was all good. I'm looking forward to seeing SCV at Mile High Stadium.
  19. I use Avast. I've never gotten a hit from DCP.
  20. I know...and I agree. I was just trying to be funny. I mean, just imagine how Crown would simulate yellow snow.
  21. Now THAT'S one of the most creative smart-###ed remarks I've ever read on DCP. Right up there with stuff from Michael Boo. I tip my hat to you, sir.
  22. A very classy looking uniform...I like it. And I must say...that was a very cool video.
  23. I commend the Colts for placing safety first. You are good guys. To those attending camp: Be careful and don't take chances. You might end up ruining your chances of marching. Just keep in mind that Sully's goodness will be waiting for you...whenever you do end up getting there.
