Cadets Going To 10 Bass Drums?
garner63077 replied to TubaPresident's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I'm guess the quad players will be on bass drums? -
Yamaha Uses the Same Valve section as the pro horn for the inter. Series trumpet, two piece bell for the Inter. instead of the One piece that the pro horn uses. The sound Difference between the Beginner to Inter. And Inter To Pro is huge and with a 2month player you can usally notice.(Not Always) I sold alot of Intermediate and pro horns in my Eight year stint.

Cadets Going To 10 Bass Drums?
garner63077 replied to TubaPresident's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Cadets usally use 20,22,24,28,32 so i'm wondering if they will pitch around that? 16,18,22,26,30? Would be cool only doubling one size but could easly tune that drum differn't. Ten bass drums doing craxy splits for 32 bars would be awesome! -

New New Drums Thread?

Yamaha='s Bluecoats, Cadets, Crown, Caviliers, Colts, Crossmen, And Scouts. That's Five out of the top 12 sometimes 6. That doesn't sound to bad to me. Pearl Has Bluedevils, Phantom, Spirit, And Troop Jupiter Cough cough has Bluestars, Boston, Sanat Clara. Asa company this is how most High Schools see and copy you, yet you don't want to spread yourself so thin. Not sure how Pearl and Jupiter does it but Yamaha Resells the Used DRUMS only and The pit is purchased by each corps. Not sure how the other companies do it, but i have sold several used Yamaha Lines. -

PR Can't win with a 7th place percussion i wouldn't think....Scores seem alittle inflated. -

i wish PR would go to Yamaha Brass they play so beautiful, yet that crap they play holds the sound back. And I wish My Coats Would Get some "CROWN" treatment and jolt up to second someday.......XMEN beating Bluestars well Political Drumcorps wins again......Blah, i can predict a crown upset of Devs even though we know who has the complete package. GOD I love PR!! If you don't agree... -
I have REAL issues with the Blue Devils
garner63077 replied to Corpsgasm's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
i thought STAR 93 felt like a winning show but they didn't win, and i think most of crowns staff (brass) are former star people? maybe crown will start a new version of blast when they lose? -

garner63077 replied to Corpsgasm's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Just because Crowns brass plays well doesn't mean they should win first. Listen to the drumline and watch some visual. It's very very dirty in the battery the pit parts aren't very hard and the corps just can't go watering because then it won't fit the show at all. You can't win DCI with a terrible battery or on the flip end a perfect battery and terrible brass. Bd has great Brass, percussion and guard and maybe it's because that Devs staff has been together for so many years. SUre Devs show might not be your cup of tea but they are performing it to the max. Crowns guard and brass are performing that show to the max as well but they aren't getting the percussion and visual score. i would like to see the bluecoats win, but it won't ever happen..... -

You seem to leave out Bluecoats who i think will pass SCV soon, it seems to be the battle every year for that fifth or sixth place spot. Crown is visually Dirty and The drums are well, really dirty so that score to me is alittle high but DCI always has the scores that high this time around. BD show design, playing marching drumming and spinning was way ahead of everyone else last night. I'd love to hear the Phantom Regiment on Yamaha or King horns to me the horns sound stuffy and i know that brass can play./...Jupiter blahhhhhh.....I wish the order of the show was differn't for sure, and as for booooing blue devils or any other corps it shouldn't happen. This kids are performing at the highest level from Music city to Dev's and ALL these kids work equally as hard and these high school kids booing and bashing kids who are on another level.........SCV drumline to me was way differn't than ive seen in the past twenty years and i just don't think he style is an SCV style. I was ready for the quads to start ramming some notes in the balad, in saying that the drumline was amped up playing at a high level just differn't for me. Boston had a nice show and cavies have come along way and seem to be a crowd pleaser..... -

Crowns Hornbook is harder drill is not a fast a Cadets Drum Book is easier and much more Dirty than Cadets Spinning and dancing is up in the air......
-
maybe X-men turned the tempo's up because half way in i fell asleep during that show. I thought cadets marching at faster tempo's than anyone, but the music book didn't seem nearly as hard. I also enjoyed the colts show better than X-Men;however colts feet were terrible.

DCP Echoing an Emotion of Negativity
garner63077 replied to Carolina09Spirit's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
March while you can. I did two years at a small corps. The first year was a great experience you work as hard as the big boys just get knocked down because your hornline isn't as loud. The second year was my worst experience because the corps director didn't know what the crap was going on and almost folded the corps. After that i went and did some auditions with the bluecoats then wound up not finishing because the drum staff quit. I started late and wish i would have knew more or would have started at a pioneer in high school then went to another corps in college. March drum corps it's the best and worst thing ever. Some days you will hate life but the minute you take that field all that changes. You will make friends for life and have many memories as well. If you don't have the money don't let that stop you. Drum corps is an amazing thing you will never forget and not marching will leave you wondering and perhaps hating that the rest of your life! -

The Loser of Feet for the night was Colts.... Wowo bad, but they played ok and the fans loved the show. Crossmen= Most boring show of the night followed by Cavies at a close second. -
How weak is the Cavies Show?
garner63077 replied to Old Corps Guy's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
i saw the show last night and i'm still scratching my head trying to figure it out. Drumline was pretty good, i HATE the six bass drums for sure. My wives favorite corps last year and this year she didn't like the show either. The drill wasn't anything intersting but the kids are working hard! -
Drum Corps shows in Canada
garner63077 replied to PunkRawkBandGeek's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
i will never forgot Ottawa. Fans loved Drum Corps, warmed up in a park in which we saw crap filled underwear by a fence in someones backyard, but fun fun shows. Border Patrol was ###### on the way back into the states from another corps, so we had to get off the bus get, answer many questions then finally get back on the bus and on our way. Canada used to be full of DIII corps in the day also. I guess Dci doesn't have 40 D-III corps anymore do they? Yes i know it's Open Class not D-III -
