  1. Nice to hear some old fashioned common sense. I am frankly quite surprised at the continuation of this silly brew ha ha over something that WILL BE RESOLVED VERY SOON.
  2. The California corps get BINGO. OC and Scades don't. Whether a corps makes finals or not, the tour costs the same.
  3. Being the died-in-the-wool Pacific Northwesterner that I am, I thought it was uncalled for to refer to our arm of the tour as a 'backwater loop'. Other than addressing that, I don't really see an attempt to divide. We all know it's a big country and costs a lot of money to transport the entourage that is drum corps back and forth across it. The western corps already bear the brunt of the expense every year by HAVING to travel coast to coast and back again. That being said, we DO so appreciate a corps from back east paying us a visit now and then, as the Cadets and Boston have recently done.
  4. I'm loving how people in other regions are growing frustrated with SCV's sky high scores. Keep it up SCV. GO ALL THE WAY. I can't think of a more deserving corps.
  5. I'd be all in for bigger shows out west once in awhile. But I'm also realistic. Fuel prices come to mind... it's just too expensive and not sustainable. Fans are JUST GOING TO HAVE TO BE PATIENT until San Antonio! SCV's show IS a bad a$$ though. Just sayin'... It could just be that they deserve the scores they are receiving.
  6. BD did this same loop last year. Didn't hurt them any. They simply kicked butt the whole season the way SCV is doing THIS year. SCV has done this arm of tour several years in the past. The pacific northwest, Utah, Colorado - is hardly a 'backwater loop'. Back in 2011, Cadets did this arm also, and won gold. And yes, they were scheduled to come out west this year originally but cancelled. BK has been along for the ride as well. They aren't exactly chopped liver. Perhaps you're just upset that SCV is scoring higher than your corps of choice and you're looking to blame, I don't know, a region?
  7. I know. That is what I thought too. There just isn't much room for corps that are lagging. Open class is too good and all too eager to fill those last semi spots. OC has performed a show every day except for one for the past week. Hopefully before the Denver show they get a few days to clean, adjust, make use of judge comments. I would just hate to see this great show not make semis. Would be a disaster for OC. Last year's corps was the most talented they've ever had, and I'm including the years my son marched, lol - (he aged out four years ago). I'm kind of wishing last year's corps had this year's show.
  8. Some strong shows this year all up and down the ranks. I can't wait to actually see all of them! The homer in me is bummed that OC's show hasn't caught on with judges. The crowds are digging it and it has tons of potential but they are losing ground in their tier. :( It's still early... I know. Plenty of season left. Sometimes I wish I could just enjoy drum corps and not worry about scores.
  9. I am wondering, will PC be told to pause their show while scores are announced? I hope they get a chance to practice that during the full ensemble run.
  10. Yeah equipment/wardrobe problem dreams... that's another commonly recurring gig dream I have.
  11. Wow these Pacific NW shows are one on top of the other.
  12. I don't want to prove you wrong. I want you to be right. There must be limits on the reach of electronics.
  13. I am jealous of everyone who marched and can still HAVE a drum corps dream. But I DO still have music performance dreams. Usually they're along the lines of I have a gig and can't get there.
  14. Whoever this person was obviously doesn't realize how wars are fought and how drum corps has a military origin. Though I am compassionate when it comes to general issues that offend mass groups of people, I have to agree with the folks who say that rifles and sabers in drum corps are a non-issue. They are decorations.
  15. Are brass judges the hardest to get? Seems like GE & visual are the most plentiful and percussion is hit and miss.
  16. I agree it works for THIS show but we all know this style of production will be copied by more and more corps, just as SCV picked it up from BC16 (and yes, it made sense for THAT show too) and my guess is... aussies, brightly plumed shakos, helmets etc... will be seen less and less, and will go the way of the traditional unis. Personally, I like the height created by headwear and big towering plumes. Two of my favorites were Bloo's & Phantom's helmets with the bright blue/white feathers piled on top. That was a great look! Shakos too. The more feathers the better. Now the corps don't even have a color scheme that is uniquely theirs anymore... that's a loss too. Kind of funny... I've only been a fan since 2010 and I already sound like a curmudgeon. But in that span of eight years, things have changed DRASTICALLY.
  17. Based on OP's list, my picks would be: OC's Nevermore Mandies' Inside the Ink - probably makes my all-time Top 20
  18. I'm glad I am not the only one who notices these things... I want to scream from rooftops sometimes that an apostrophe is NOT necessary to make a word plural! In most cases, simply an 'S' will do!
