  1. Even if BK made their own sample of "Because," you can bet it still would have had to have been cut.
  2. Tangential to the Finals Week experience, I recommend checking out the Rhythm Discovery Center in downtown Indy.
  3. Pizza - Bazbeaux, Pizzology All-around dinner - Bru Burger, Harry & Izzys Breakfast - Milktooth, Cafe Patachou
  4. I'm sure. I'm just tickled by the thought of him furiously editing each of his treatises on show design day in and day out.
  5. I notice all of Channel3's posts are edited. I'd hate to see the originals.
  6. Integrating lyrical content seems like it may walk a tightrope between effective and corny. Best I could hope for would be some very subtle lyrical tidbits from Heaven on Their Minds or Blood Money/Judas' Death. Plus, you also have the decision to make between having a MM sing or sampling some Carl Anderson/Ben Vereen/etc, both of which have their downsides. Either way, definitely excited to see the product on the field come summer!
  7. Definitely agree. It works when it's appropriate (see Crown '13 or BD '14).
  8. You see, the Madison Scouts are like... a puppy. And Channel 3 is the little boy. And the industry, that was a revolution.
  9. Thanks for the correction! Though typically drum corps shows are not trying to make statements based on current events.
  10. To me, it clearly has roots in the series, if not the radio show itself, then the essay series that came from it. The spoken word part of the Martha Graham essay was featured in the This I Believe series. Now I could be wrong, and I'm sure most people (including you) on DCP have more insight into the inner workings of the corps than I, but if that's a coincidence, it's a hell of one.
  11. The show was an homage to the radio program and essay series "This I Believe," wherein the first sentence of each piece is literally always something akin to "I believe in drum corps." The show itself is an essay in that style. For all your design bravura, how did you not get that?
  12. Coming from the person who had the suggestion of a show based around an old man going behind a screen and a baby emerging in his place to show "the circle of life."
  13. I think it's absolutely made them more creative. The move to computer designs makes it easier for designers to convey their ideas to each other. While there's definitely a learning curve with any new medium, the great designers will always be able to manage.
  14. As you should - Metheny was a frequent collaborator with Reich - check out his work on Different Trains!
  15. You do know that these shows are planned at least a year in advance, right? There was almost definitely no intentional choice to theme the shows with those events.
  16. Last year I went to prelims and my seats were in the 140's. I actually loved it - the only problem being we were a little too close to the speakers for my taste. Fortunately since it was prelims there were some empty seats a little closer to the center that we were able to move to. No way anyone would have such luck on semis or finals night.
  17. Way Too Early 2016 Predictions: BK will fall out of top 6, with Madison stepping up into the top 6. Cavaliers will once again finish 8-12. Colts will make Finals night, and it won't be close between 12 & 13.
  18. Rhapsody for Sax Quartet by Eric Ewazen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PzdcbLulNM
  19. The word is that the multiview camera swung right in front of the soloist and he lost his focus.
  20. I had assumed the Sinatra was the first on the chopping block.
  21. That's disappointing to hear. Experiencing the effect live was incredible - there was an audible gasp when the silks were pulled behind the mirrors accompanied by the track fading into the synth push.
