  1. I don't know if any corp has ever done "A weekend in New York", but I think it'd be a good fit for Crossmen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vis5fduV2HQ especially from 1:00-2:30, but really the whole song is great.
  2. I'm not a Crossmen Homer, but I am a San Antonio native, and therefore root hard for the Crossmen. Now, with that said. I"m not too disappointed to see Mr. Naffier go. While I'm glad Crossmen made finals this year, I wish it was with a show I was more in love with (musically). Now I know this is just me, but since last year, I haven't played back "Protest" not once. I don't see myself doing so for "Alma Gitana"...and I've only done so a handful of times with 2012's "Fragile" and usually just the first half of the show. **I did however love everyting about "Renewal". So again, this is just me and I realize I have different tastes than everyone else, but I'm excited to see where Crossmen go from here.
  3. I'm more of a music guy than a visual guy, here's my top 10. 10.Cavaliers 2007- And So It Goes 9.Carolina Crown 2007- Triple Crown 8.Carolina Crown 2014- Out of This World 7.Blue Devils 1996- Club Blue: A Gangster Chronicle **Even as a championship show, I feel it's overlooked/forgotten** 6.Blue Devils 2008- Constantly Risking Absurdity 5.Bluecoats 2010- Metropolis 4.Cadets 1987- Appalachian Spring 3.Cavaliers 2002- Frameworks 2.Blue Devils 2009- 1930 1.Blue Devils 2012- Cabaret Voltaire
  4. Nah, Colts all the way for the bathroom break
  5. completely agree!! I think musically, it's my 3rd favorite show of the year.
  6. and In my opinion, too much is forcing the viewer how to feel, whereas if you use less, the viewer is free to input his own thoughts and experiences into interpreting the show.
  7. A big part of me wants to like them so much (Because I LOVED their show last year)...but I have to agree.
  8. I mean ... sure, yes, of course ... I mean, why not? Sure.
  9. Woah, I thought i was the ONLY one who uses that expression
  10. This has been on my mind for a long time, and I hope I'm able to clearly convey my thoughts. I've seen a lot of discussions on slotting and/or discrepancy on scores. But has anyone ever considered that scores start out too low in the first place? For example, (and I'll be using two of my favorite corps so that i don't want anyone to think this is a rant) tonight, Crossmen scored a 75.00; In their first competition, they scored a 62.20, and Blue Devils won that show with a score of 73.20. Are the Crossmen of tonight really 1.8 points better than Blue Devils of 3 weeks ago? That's not my main question, even I know the answer is absolutely not. But why can't scores start out higher? I personally believe that if Blue Devils opening show was somehow performed on Prelims night in Indy, it would score AT LEAST an 85. This is my only beef with scores. I'd love to hear someones input so that I don't have a beef anymore with the scores or judging system. Don't get me wrong, it's not killing me, I just don't get it...
  11. Crossmen - Warmed up to the show a bit more upon 2nd viewing. Still feel strongly about a few things, though. Visually, the drill is too compact and the field is not covered well until the last set. The music is way too choppy - too many thoughts crammed into one show, without letting most of them breathe long enough. The faux ending with the 40th anniversary sign is a great touch, though. Performance-wise, this is a stronger corps than last year. Blue Knights - I'm not sure they had their best run tonight. Either that or the show doesn't project and sell as well to the upper deck. I found BK flatter and less interesting than my first 2 viewings. I also thought they had a less clean run - musically and visually. Well, except for the guard, which was very strong. SCV - Getting better, more rapidly, to me than anyone else. Love the show, love the effects, and while the last 60 seconds still aren't the highlight of the show it needs to be musically, the drill is getting it closer. Don't think they have the execution levels musically to win, but they are not locked out of top 3. They have a vehicle that can take them higher. Regardless, my favorite show of the year. Odd how many 4th and 5th place shows over the years have been my favorites that particular year... Oregon Crusaders - Let me say I loved their 2013 show. While this time was my first read of their 2014 show, I was hoping for something more. I found the show to reliant on the worst of modern programming, with uses of electronics, etc that were not that effective (to my tastes). While this show is obviously more difficult than last year's show, I think last year's design was far more effective, with more continunity. The whole cross to cross move near the end only stood, to me, as a stark contrast to the masterpiece that Star of Indiana pulled off 22 years ago. A talented crew, nonetheless, and a very welcome additoin to World Class
  12. Mine aren't updated, just wanted to point out how good my predictions were :P
  13. I must say, I already like this show as is, more than last years finished product. looking forward to liking a crown show again.
  14. I don't hate these, but i prefer the look they had from 2008-2012. I really wouldn't mind if they kept that look forever.
  15. I too am a bit let down, but, I'm one of those that liked the Blue Devil's direction the last 6 years (they had my favorite show of the year in all but one of those 6 years). Hope this show grows on me though.
  16. was gonna vote for Blue Devils 2009, but somehow they're not even listed...?
  17. I can't say which is the dirtiest, but in my humble opinion, I think Blue Devils 2009 has to be one of the cleanest shows ever!
