  1. For those who aren't familiar with Animal Farm (like me), can someone give me and other's who aren't familiar a quick synopsis.
  2. Carolina Crown's 2007 show Triple Crown had great soft sections. Still one of my favorite shows from them.
  3. One of my favorite closers musically is Crossmen's 2004 show "E Pluribus Unum". The music has like a larger than life feel to it. Especially the trumpet solo blasting over the rest of the corp, you can really feel the passion. It's easily in my top 10 all time musical moments.
  4. I hate to be 'that guy', but I wanna see a top 12 corps take on it...
  5. I've been thinking lately, Pure Imagination from the original Willy Wonka has some potential... could be integrated kind of like how Cavies used Nature Boy in 2011. HEre are a couple of good versions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ApySWpfJyc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87k45xzJuAg
  6. 1. Blue Devils 2. Cadets 3. Carolina Crown 4. Bluecoats 5. Santa Clara Vanguard 6. Phantom Regiment 7. Cavaliers 8. Boston Crusaders 9. Blue Knights 10. Madison Scouts 11. Blue Stars 12. Crossmen /***************************************************/ 13. Spirit of Atlanta 14. Troopers 15. Colts 16. Oregon Crusaders 17. Pacific Crest
  7. Well since we're talking about marching band...Have you considered doing a trilogy ( like LD BEll did from 05-07). You could make the first show called "Platform 9 and Three quarters" and portray all the interesting things that occurred in the train from all the parts...it could also have cool train effects like The Woodlands did this year (or Blue Devils 2004). The Second part, maybe "Dumbledore's Army", the concept would be the band coming together and forming a camaraderie. The third part, idk whatever you want. My thing is, it's pretty hard to do a Harry Potter show, and not feel short changed. The biggest mistake you can make is try to clunk everything together.
  8. I'd like to see the Blue Devils do "Does anybody really know what time it is". Think Blue Devils 2009 (or 2011). The first 40 seconds especially...and the chorus. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qssWO8NSq0
  9. 1. Blue Devils 2. Santa Clara Vanguard 3.Carolina Crown (gap) 4. Bluecoats 5.Cadets (gap) 6. Cavaliers 7. Boston Crusaders 8. Phantom Regiment (gap) 9. Madison Scouts 10. Spirit of Atlanta 11. Blue Stars 12. Crossmen ***************************** 13. Blue Knights (not a hater, i love their last 2 shows, but I"m predicting a fallout) 14. Troopers
  10. I was actually faced with this dilemma just the other day, and I settled on this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KtLXFGnYEs
  11. Yeah, that's how felt when Ashton Kutcher joined TWO AND A HALF MEN, I thought, "It's going to be terrible now". But I was proved wrong, and I still thoroughly enjoy watching it.
  12. I'll probably get a lot of beef for this, but I don't care. I feel like I'm in the minority that actually liked 15 min more than Secret Society. Yes, 15 min is a lot more cheesy, but it was also better performed, and has more hummable moments (in my opinion).
  13. everytime i pass by a bingo hall now, I cant help but think about DCI. its just the first thing that pops to mind
  14. yeah, my point is: those that bother to listen to the studio recording are those that like the blue devils already. And I have to agree with what everyone else is saying. And this years sound better than the rest (quality wise). The past few years, some sections/parts were too loud or not loud enough. I think this one and the Godfather are the best recordings blue devils have done.
  15. Well think about it, the only ones who can listen to the studio recording are those that are subscribed to Blue Devils network.
  16. huh, whatever happened to ole Mickey? What's he up to these days?
  17. I think Existentialism on a prom night could be great with the right arranging.
  18. So, this is the first topic I've started. I have a close friend from my high school days that has gone on to do great things with his music career, and has earned a number of prestigious awards and recognition. He did Drum Corps for two years(but for two different top-12 corps). I was talking to him the other day, and he told me that he doesn't like Drum Corps (he said the marching arts in general). And he said the only reason he did DCI was to bolster his professional resume. To which I thought, "what a shame, he took the spots of people that would've really liked to be there...even though they weren't as talented as him." My question is, Is there a lot of this in the activity today? ( I personally think one is too many)... And for those that marched, have there been times when you can tell there's someone in the corps just to rack up brownie points? If so, how does this affect the corps/show (if at all)? ps: I'm sorry if this topic has already been done before.
  19. I'm fairly new here, is Granny Smith really an old lady? I just thought her profile account was a joke.
  20. I'd really like to see Carolina Crown do mvt 2 of King Fishers Catch Fire
  21. I was thinking about this again the other day, and was reminded of the Metal Gear Solid series. A great game, with good music, I think this could have some potential in a show (specifically from 2:00-3:30)
