  1. Sorry not to take anything away from a great Phantom performance, SCV won, Game over.
  2. If you are talking about the Beantown show in 75, they were not there and more importantly the Skyliners did not break ranks for ANYBODY.
  3. Barnum Festival 1980, George Parks and his famous mace are getting ready for the show ending high toss. He throws the mace up in the air and then he slips on the wet grass ( it rained earlier). Not only does he get up and catch it, he caught it behind his back. In my Skyliner uniform and all I had to give him a standing "O".
  4. That is my one of my favorite stories to hear at Post 199 - however, its not quite told that same way, and thats ALL I want to say about it now! ^0^ I was in Sky in 77 and the way you heard the story is pretty much actually what happened.
  5. My understanding from a very reliable source was that a superball was used on a gong.
  6. There have been lines in the past that have had exercises with a groove to them but, I will agree that SCV has definetely taken that to a new level. I really enjoyed their warmup program last year and I think what they are doing does make it more enjoyable for the perfomer
  7. Actually, there's nothing new about it. I've been doing that since 1971. I very rarely practiced exercises except to learn them.
  8. Yes Jeff, you are correct, The Hurricanes actually preceeded Sky onto the field that evening. Some of the birds were still around at that point though. As a corps we unfortunately dropped from 3rd in prelims to 4th that evening but, it was a special night for our percusion section finally winning the trophy.
  9. Actually, I can tell you from personal experience, it was the Skyliners who came on after the Westshoremen in 1980. Butch Anderson assisted Walter Kelly in Shooing the errant birds as we were coming onto the field.
  10. Should be bad-###, I look forward to checking them out
  11. It may not mean much to you but may you someday hope to achieve 1 tenth of what he did with a pair or sticks
  12. Sour Grapes are a dish best served in private
  13. I think that there is a forum more suited for this discussion elsewhere on this site
  14. And your question is?. Anybody who marched in "73" will know what I'm talking about.
  15. Having seen them all pretty much and marched in a lot of them my list of great DCA percussion lines would be too long. However I am going to throw one out there that probably no one would mention, Les Diplomat who won percussion in 1973. The thing that sticks out about them was not only were they good but they had a couple of the hottest female percussionist that you would ever want to see in that line that year. :)
  16. Basically, it was cold, the right person won and the venue was horrible. Hopefully next year it will be presented better. :)
  17. Was this your 1st time at DCA's in Scranton? The Nazi youth (cops) were actually nicer than in some years in the recent past. Somehow, I don't think that's ever going to change. :)
  18. George Brown- My 1st instructor, got my parents to make a 6 year old practice for an hr a day Eric Perriloux- Taught me about Quality and how to accept nothing less than 100 percent. Wes Meyers- Taught me about innovation and putting flams where most people wouldn't. (something I still cherish to this day). :)
