  1. Setting up a visual is one thing. Understanding how the hornline needs to control the horn and move with a different style from how a drumline moves are very different things. If the technique is being shopped out to someone else on the staff then sure, why not.
  2. Bolded by me so that I may ask exactly what that is suppose to mean?
  3. What about someone leaving BD for the Cadets or vice versa?
  4. Yes I can see the little bit of dirt, but the skirt isn't hiding it. How about that double stripe?
  5. Which recaps are you reading? Cadets won visual all three nights.
  6. How much can we attribute the bump in souvenir sales to the fact that no one had to walk down to the convention center to get to them?
  7. Dark pants and no stripe only hides things for band moms and Drum Corps Planet.
  8. You know how question marks work, right?
  9. Not really digging those new uniforms though.
  10. No on all fronts, because it seems like you are asking for two minutes of an anachronistic throwback that will be out of place with whatever the designers are gearing for (be it a theme show based on the the Japanese holiday of Golden Week, or an actual random collection of individualized throwback tunes comprised of Mars, Legend of the One Eyed Sailor, and The Elk's Parade). Also, it will not at all be the same as the tick system's 'go for broke after the gun' because that is not how tech subcaptions and captions work anymore in relation both to the GE sheets and by themselves.
  11. You have conviently failed to respond to my inquiries, and trying to keep things on topic, is probably why you failed the Pioneer.
  12. More pub crawls and tailgating parties at the big shows would be a great thing!
  13. Please disabuse me of any assumptions on my part here, but you went into a situation without apparently talking beforehand with the other visual staff about what approaches to drill/technique you were going to incorporate so as to all be on the same page? What kind of hierarchy was set up beforehand as far as the visual staff was concerned? I don't care if you are walking into a scene with all 22 year olds on a staff with no previous drum corps experience, much less top 12 experience, jumping in like that guns blazing (whether or not you were aware that was the way your approach was going to come off) is only going to end badly for you and everyone else. I would suggest that despite learning whatever info you gleaned from all the names you are dropping like so many loose toothpicks, you never really learned about the process. Just like everything else in this activity, visual instruction should be approached with a build up of knowledge, which acknowledges and uses everything that came before, but by all means, let's roll things back to 1980.
  14. At what point in this thread does the BD staff need to start reading?
  15. I watched last weekend's live stream on my Droid. A little sputtery sometimes, but it was running.
  16. Not sure how this didn't come up yet, but I have to question comparing BD this year and the Blue Knights from 1992. I honestly would like to hear what approaches to form, staging, motion, and integration are making you see similarities with these two corps.
