  1. I like the sound Bloo had in both 2013 and 2014 for different reasons. But I felt that Tilt was a lot more cohesive than To Look for America. Some parts of that 2013 show seemed disjointed and just kinda out of place. As long as Bloo maintains that cohesiveness in their show design, I'll be very happy with this show because their hornline and drumline seem to consistently deliver. Their show design falls short a lot and hopefully that won't happen this year.
  2. Yup that's exactly my sentiment too. I unconditionally love PR shows because they're by far my favorite corps. But after that, the corps I like year to year depends on what show they're putting on. That's why I qualified my signature to say "I guess you could say I like the color blue in 2014". There's a very good chance some corps that were on there last year will disappear after this season and be replaced by different ones.
  3. Looks like a dinosaur wearing a fancy winter coat to me.
  4. Ignorance seems to be a common "characteristic" among BD haters. Or would you say it's a "formula?"
  5. I'm loving the artwork BD and Bloo are using this year. Looks great!
  6. So you're saying that BD's formula for shows is that they're "weird?" That's the most BS answer possible. "Weird" is so subjective. Couldn't I say that the Bluecoats' 2014 show was weird? I mean, it was a darn show focusing on the act of TILTING (which, by the way, isn't all that different from BD 2008). Any show can be considered "weird" depending on the person. I've asked everyone who has been pointing to some "formula" that BD uses to point it out for me/explain it to me. Yet no one has been able to. Interesting.
  7. They announced 1 or 2 pieces already. But not the theme.
  8. Bluecoats will be announcing their show at 2 PM today! (Eastern time)
  9. I've always wondered... why does PR 1996's drumline sound so deep? Was it the mix of the recording, the stadium, the type of drums, or something else? They sounded unusually overpowering.
  10. What is "that hornline" referring to?
  11. I think synth use was pretty awful in 2009. Either that, or DCI was still getting used to Lucas Oil/recording shows that used synth because the quality of the 2009 recordings are awful and unnecessarily bass heavy. I don't listen to any shows from 2009 because I can't really stand to listen to those recordings.
  12. I think the hope is that it will be arranged and performed well enough that the crowd won't have to be taught anything.
  13. Ahh gotcha. I've taken 5 years of french and been to Paris before so I was pretty confused haha.
  14. There's a new Arc de Triomphe?! Since when..
  15. I think they bit off more than they could chew. Crown made many alterations to the show as the season went on so they definitely received guidance from the judges. But their show was extremely difficult coupled with the insane brass book. Heck, they had to dumb down their drill and music in the closer because it was just too dirty. They're going to need to ease up a little as well as hope that other corps aren't as strong as in 2014 (2014 was one hell of a year in terms of competition).
  16. Interesting. I always assumed it was something pretty recent since a lot of people have been (seemingly) recently calling it pretentious. Looks like that's more of a result of people's biases on BD's recent direction than the action itself.
  17. I definitely don't think SCV would've produced as large of a hit without those trombones. It added both volume and a unique sound to the chords. It gave it a nice punchiness and deep sound.
  18. Crown out of the top 5... Somehow I can't see that happening.
  19. That's quite the generalization to make. I'd assume they'd get 6th place with a similar theme due to less than stellar marching and playing? Or maybe a less well-thought out design?
  20. Musically, it's by far my favorite Cadets show. I think the show gets a lot of hate because of the way those moving blocks were handled during the show. It definitely hindered the Cadets' program.
  21. Oh please. Their hornline that year was in a league of its own (and the scores showed it). They were also sneaky clean and had an amazing guard as usual. Mad World is one of my more favorite Cavies shows (and to my eye, it was just about as clean as BD was), but they were held back musically (in my opinion. The margin wasn't too large from what I remember). BD was just the better corps. Entertaining or not.
  22. I'm personally making my final prediction before the first show of the year.
