Fan Network - The New Platform
Cappybara replied to garfield's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
While the interface for desktop isn't pretty, it works just fine on mobile. Not sure why you're having troubles (unless you own an android phone, in which case you deserve any difficulties you're getting :P ) -
Fan Network - Why have you forsaken me?
Cappybara replied to sacrificialclown's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
WELL looks like we finally got our answers: " Dear Fan Network Subscriber: We are writing today to make you aware of several issues which may cause occasional interruptions in the delivery of on-demand programming through the DCI Fan Network. During the next few months, the DCI Fan Network will be transitioning from its current delivery platform to a new state-of-the-art service designed with enhanced technology to provide loyal fans like you with an even better viewing experience. During this transition, it may be necessary for us to remove content from our online library from time to time. Additionally, Drum Corps International is currently reviewing the status of various copyright permissions granted by publishers of works performed by our participating ensembles. As a result, we regret that select files may not be available for viewing for an indefinite period of time. Please be assured that we are working to complete this review and implement our upgraded capabilities as quickly and efficiently as possible. We are pleased to continue to demonstrate leadership in the world of marching music, including our ability to provide ample and robust content offerings through our increasingly popular Fan Network platform. We are equally committed to demonstrating our leadership in compliance with copyright law and to the protection of the intellectual property rights of talented composers and arrangers around the world. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we thank you for continuing to support the remarkable organizations which comprise Marching Music's Major League. TM -
Unfortunate. I loved the simplicity of "X" way more.
-
I can see this music presenting similar challenges to the Cadets that 2014's music presented to Crown. Crown ultimately had to simplify some parts of their music in order to get it clean. Hopefully they will create their drill in such a way that those adjustments won't be necessary.

Why would you EVER expect to get into a corps if you're less talented than someone who put in much more work for auditions? Achievement and effort come hand in hand in any type of performance activity. If a vet decides to not put the effort into maintaining excellence, they will not achieve in their auditions and rightfully get cut.
-
I hope they don't try to hopelessly spread the corps out on the field like they did this past summer throughout the show and especially in the closer. The arrangements themselves, however, were good.
-
What an honor!
-
None considering I'm one person and not a corps? Lol. Thank you for reminding me about how elitist many of the people who follow this activity are. Next time I ask you to remind me of my "credentials" when I'm giving an opinion, I'll be sure to hit you up my man. Also, in case this is a shock to you, I just want to let you know that the people wearing the uniforms won the championships, not the colored fabric worn by the members. To suggest otherwise would be demeaning to all the Cadets vets.
-
Yup exactly what I was thinking.
-
So, what's the issue..?
-
Now complete it with some nice dark and evil looking Cadets themed uniforms and they're set! *runs and hides from Cadets vets*

Well said. I'm not the biggest opponent to props and voice, but let regiment stick to being regiment. However, if they use props and voice in order to fit their own style, I'm all for it

Petition to Air DCI Finals on CBS
Cappybara replied to Cadevilina Crown's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Hah good luck with that. Our high school is the 3rd or 4th best football program in the state and there were plenty of power struggles between our band director and football coach over practice times on the field. -

Things have changed quite a bit from the stereotypes that existed a while ago. Have you watched 21 jumpstreet (or was it 22 jumpstreet? I'm talking about the one where they pretend to be high schoolers)? They kinda showed how things have changed a little where people are still grouped together, but the "hierarchies" so to speak are way more blurred. It's not as surprising anymore to find a band geek be more popular than an athlete and bullies are actively fought against. My experience could be influenced by the fact that I went to school in one of the richest counties in the nation, but many of my friends from different parts of the country have similar experiences. -

I'd imagine quite a few are from teenagers actually. Band memes or whatever the Facebook group is called pushed the link out and if I remember correctly, they have about 200k followers or something like that. Most of them, from my experience in the comments section, are teens who have marched or are currently marching. -
I'll be cheering for you guys in the national championship. Anyone but Ohio State lol.

I hate the SEC, but I also hate the big 10 so there's that haha

50,000 people is a very tiny amount. That is not going to be enough to convince CBS to air finals on TV. -
Being redirected from forums to ad site.

I don't see anything wrong with CNN's page. Looks like any other blog/news site. -

I can't help but think that this could potentially put quite a bit of attention on DCI and lead to some more copyright trouble... Idk I'm not knowledgable in copyright law but for that reason I haven't signed the petition just yet. -
Speaking of the media, has anyone seen the tweet by Jim Rome (ESPN commentator) on his opinion on marching bands? Let's just say that even the DCI Twitter account went as far as to call him a tool. Look up #romeisburning if you guys want to look into it more.
