  1. I guess I mean in the way that an electronic sound is always going to have perfect "tone" and won't be off pitch or anything like that. It's the "ideal" sound except it doesn't have any of the organic sound that people appreciate from live performances.
  2. I did and I'm still confused why you asked me to reread.
  3. *Insert defensive comment here imitating a Cadets apologist* /runs
  4. Maybe he meant they sound like a synth and that's how good they sound?
  5. You can already here traces of that crown brass sound. Not bad for a cellphone recording in a gym.
  6. Except Bluecoats didn't exactly do all the chopping up that other corps nowadays do. So pointing to Bluecoats is more helping his point than hurting it. With the normal style of today's corps, I think OP is correct that establishing that strong emotional mood is difficult
  7. It was decent. But their hornline sounded lifeless throughout the season. Listen to 2013 and then 2014. Huge difference. I don't think the arrangements were too bad, but the corps didn't sound like they were into it so I didn't enjoy it.
  8. It doesnt. For some reason he really wants PR to play Gershwin.
  9. Which is exactly what I said, silly. Notice "WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 2013"
  10. 12.25 is musically way better than the crap they've been putting out the past 5-6 years in my opinion (with the exception of 2013). As for overall design, eh.
  11. Yeah I thought this was going to be about trumpet fracking. Disappointed.
  12. Cadets are always hit and miss for me, but I'm not sure "boring" is proper criteria for judging.
  13. Funnily enough, the people crying about overreactions are doing the same. I don't think anyone said they hated the Scouts performance (like some people on here did to the Cadets in their Olympic performance) nor is anyone trying to bash on Madison in any way whatsoever. In fact, the consensus is that every single person enjoyed the performance. There is nothing wrong with giving an opinion on what could be done to improve the next showing whenever another corps makes a large national appearance. We all appreciate the performance, there is no reason to get all sensitive. Everyone has a right to an opinion on the board, I will happily exercise it. This is mainly directed towards c_holland.
  14. Thank you. No malice was meant in my criticisms, I was just being practical/realist.
  15. Sorry I can't really answer your question, but I'd imagine that the Cadets get more raw brass talent than PR, Cavies, and SCV. They're probably on par with Bloo.
  16. That is very true, but you also have to pay attention to what TYPE of impression they made when performing at a national scale. Yes, they were on TV, but that doesn't necessarily assure that they got attention, which is why I think Brutus had some good points. I agree any exposure at all is good, but I don't think it's wrong for a little criticism on the execution. They got some time on the air and millions of people probably saw it, but were the viewers pulled in or did their eyes glaze over? For everyone on this board and any other DCI fans, this is a huge deal and so obviously everyone involved in the activity is excited about it, but the goal is to attract new fans to DCI.
  17. But knowing Surf, I wouldn't doubt it. Lol.
  18. Surf posted up this picture on their Facebook page. Apparently they're going to be using multiple "didgeridoos" in their show for the 2015 season. Thoughts?
  19. Yet their brass sounded so much better than cavies and on par with SCV in my opinion. I know both scored higher in brass but the sound of the ensemble in the final recording matters to me a lot more
  20. What is this even referring to lol this was way back 2 weeks ago
  21. Yeah those screamers did not sound too great haha. But the overall sound of the ensemble was amazing
  22. Why... That only spells trouble for the 2015 DVDs
