  1. I found this a bit curious. It’s from Wikipedia so I don’t know how accurate it is. SponsorshipEdit Pioneer Drum & Bugle Corps & Color Guard, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) musical organization. As such, it has a Board of Advisors, director, and staff assigned to carry out the organization's mission. The organization is under the direction of interim CEO, William Strube and an interim Board of Advisors. However, the interim board of directors does not have the legal authority to remove current Board members, or make legal decisions on behalf of the corps without permission of the existing Board of Directors.[11]
  2. You could also get kind of esoteric and make it into a ghost story by working in Toni Morrison’s Beloved.
  3. Try the under 60s! Lol. I know of him performing at The First Avenue in Minneapolis in 1979 and I was late to the game.
  4. You or someone else could cut out the design and appliqué it onto a new shirt. I did that to a fave white shirt that was pitted out. Lol
  5. He’s the only arranger in drum corps I felt made the original orchestral score better. 2010. Although, that team was an embarrassment of riches so it wasn’t solely his arranging that made Into the Light such a stunning production.
  6. “Representation matters” does not mean other attributes don’t also matter and I didn’t suggest that in my post.
  7. Have you been living under a rock? Lol The alphabet community has been well represented in drum corps for years.
  8. Exactly! I said just as much in one of my posts. They’re only catching flak from one person on here. I’m not going to lose any sleep over getofmydot’s post.
  9. I find calling out a corps for (unintentionally?) having an all male staff ridiculous but not striving to diversify the teaching ranks ridiculous. Representation matters.,
  10. Kdaddy summed it up much more eloquently than I ever could.
  11. You raise many good points, BUT... Do you have firsthand knowledge of how Blue Stars went about recruiting staff for 2020? Maybe they made an effort to recruit female staff, maybe they didn’t. I’m all behind breaking up they old boys network but there simply isn’t that big a pool of staffers who happen to be female currently. That needs to change. How we go about changing that is the issue, not the Blue Stars just happening to have an all male staff.
  12. I’m totally in agreement except for 2016. Crown 2nd, BD 3rd. 2008 was the most egregious mistake of the bunch imo.
  13. I think the announcement I’m most anticipating is Blue Star’s brass team. They took a gamble on their last brass caption head and it payed off.
  14. Was it the “Cavies can be pushed harder in rehearsal because they’re all male” or something to that effect? I think he learned his lesson.
  15. I trolled him years ago by introducing myself and referring to him as George Hopkinson. He looked at me like I was from Mars.
  16. It might be a hit but Blue Stars are resilient. I trust Brad Furlano et al.
  17. Lol We have a circular firing squad going on.
  18. I need to go for a walk and get some fresh air. In the grand scheme of things, this is only marching band.
