  1. My favorite day of tour was always "Getting the **** out of Texas" day.
  2. BK has had several diabetics march in the past. I know this from personal experience. Just be upfront and honest about your needs and they will absolutely accommodate you. Good luck!
  3. After I aged out from 4 summers of drum corps, I went to see a dermatologist, as I have very fair skin. Despite putting on sunscreen religiously and even wearing pants and long sleeve shirts at times, I still have fairly extensive skin damage. So far I've had 3 pre-cancerous moles removed, with more to come and I'm only 27 years old. The moral of the story? WEAR SUNSCREEN. At least SPF 45, and reapply during every break you possibly can. Even wear it on cloudy days, because UV rays come straight through clouds. If you can, wear lightweight long sleeve shirts and pants. It doesn't make you that much hotter than your friend who wears a bikini/shorts. Having a tan is not worth the problems you will experience later in life, trust me!
  4. Ha. Actually a female, and I believe she's an ageout this year.
  5. SCV is staying down in Colorado Springs, which is about a 2 hour drive from Windsor (make that 3 with the caravan). That would be my guess as to why they aren't going.
  6. Well, just found out I'm going to this show. Will be staying in the lot, but will be there anyways. Go BK!
  7. I have a little bit of experience with this..... Take your BIG purse. Put a sweatshirt in it for when the weather cools off. Wrap up said beverages inside your shirt. Even if they search your bag, they generally won't pull your clothes out. Voila, beverages for the show! My beverages of choice have rum in them.
  8. As an example, I'm attending DCI this year. These are my costs: $128 plane ticket from Denver to Indy (round trip, got a steal on that one!) $145 for semis and finals ticket $125 for three nights at a hotel (Actual cost is $500, but I'm rooming with friends to cut down costs) $20 for cab fares to/from the airport (not renting a car this year, splitting cab with a friend) $100 for food (3 days worth, we like to eat cheap and don't get alcoholic drinks at restaurants, that's a ripoff!) $50 for souvies Grand total is $568, give or take a couple bucks. It's not cheap, but it certainly won't break the bank. This trip is special for me, and I plan on doing it every year I possibly can, so it's something I figure into my annual budget. With a little planning and frugality, it's easy to fit in. See everyone in Indy!
  9. My friends on SCV staff have been updating Facebook with highly positive things to say about SCV's performance tonight. I'm hoping scores come soon, I'm sleepy!
  10. Naw, everyone is over on the Bristol thread debating east coast inflation. The Blue Who? Santa Clara What? Troop Where?
  11. I volunteered on a food truck last summer for 2 weeks for a top 12 corps, and the best donations that we got were always fresh fruit that didn't need to be sliced. Bananas disappeared very quickly, the members LOVE them. Another good idea is cookies, that way the cook crew doesn't have to worry about making a dessert. My favorite donation was always TIME. If someone came and did the dishes and helped clean up after even just one meal, it was greatly appreciated. The food crew can always find something for you to help with, even if it's only for an hour or two. With that being said, everyone get out there and volunteer!
  12. They cover them up to protect them from sun and heat damage, as far as I know. I do agree that they should be uncovered, at least for ensemble rehearsals and run-throughs.
  13. Just heard the same one. Andre and his staff are doing an amazing job, they sound better now than they did at the end of last summer.
  14. Awesome, I was wondering if anyone would be there. Thanks for the update!
  15. I think we saw the same videos, and I couldn't disagree with you more. The arrangement is true to the original, subtly layered, and the percussion book is very musical and fits perfectly with the horn book. I don't know diddly about guard, but I have to say that I truly enjoy the dance and equipment work they are doing. The last power moment of Simple Gifts brought me to tears (all from a video recording). It's simply drum corps, no gimmicks or fancy tricks needed. I can't WAIT to see them live, and I hope that you can see them this year and hopefully they can erase the "not bueno" review you gave.
  16. Invesco! Clean, new stadium. Tons of parking. Nice airport. Lots of nearby attractions for visitors. The only thing good about Madison is the Stadium Bar across the street. Otherwise, it's a logistical nightmare!
  17. I did notice that two world class corps didn't even bring American flags to retreat........
  18. I LOVE the three 3's set, I wish it didn't transition through it so quickly. Anyways....... the yell is right when all the guard girls arrive on the 50 yard line and switch to the blue dresses.
  19. Blue Knights: Clay Middle School 5150 E 126th St Carmel, IN 46033
  20. SCV: Park Tudor HS 7200 N. College Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46033 SCVC: Barker Middle School 319 E. Barker Rd Michigan City, IN 46360
  21. Um yeah, I need to know more about this place for sure. I think I'll load the address into my phone right now. :)
  22. Hm, looks like a good show lineup. Wish I was there.....
  23. Okay, San Antonio....... I expect to hear some rain tonight on the webcast!
  24. EVERYONE should work on Miss Amana! Really hard work, but a TON of fun.
