  1. The story I always heard from being with Sky was that the corps actually had Butch go to Syracuse to be sure he could "cut it" as a drum major before putting him in front of the corps. But as old stories go, I'm sure there are several variations.
  2. I like the idea of voluntary donations. The I&E pin idea was cool too. I ended up buying one to commemorate my trip this year.
  3. Exactly. There was way too much noise going on during the performances. The socializing needs to be taken out to the lobby or the street. It's the same situation as Finals in Scranton when the people that went to hang out at the Stadium Club were just plain disruptive. Those mini corps performances are being recorded and are offered as part of the DVD package. Don't know if the mics can pick up on all the noise but it would be the last thing I want to hear on video.
  4. Thanks for the support! We've got quite a price tag on this season and this fundraiser will be a major supporter for us.
  5. The Conquistadors Performing Arts Association is gearing up for 2011 with the sale of our annual Lottery Calendar. Proceeds from sales go to help the winterguard and to bring the dream of competitive drum corps in the Southern Tier of New York a little closer. Details on the calendars are below: === The 2011 Conquistadors Lottery Calendar 1 Number, 364 Chances to Win! Here's How It Works: Purchase your calendar on our website or by meeting up with one of our members. You will be asked upon checkout on our site or on the paper order form to pick your Lucky Number. Please choose 3 three-digit numbers between 000 and 999 in order of preference. If your first choice is already taken then we will use your second and up to your third choice. If you fail to choose a number then one will be provided for you. Beginning January 1st, 2011, check the New York Lottery Evening Numbers. If your Lucky Number from the calendar is drawn that night, you win the prize amount shown on the day of the week. Prizes vary by day. The normal winning amount is $25.00 with special $100.00 Jackpot days throughout the year. By winning just once, the calendar pays for itself and you know you have supported a great cause. Prize checks will be mailed at the end of each month to the winners. We will begin shipping on October 1st, 2010. They make great Holiday and Birthday gifts. Visit our website at www.conquistadorswinterguard.org for further info and to order!

  7. Just wanted to let everyone know that is in Rochester this weekend that the Busy Bee Diner on the corner of Main and Plymouth has awesome food for real cheap.
  8. Better than announcing at finals retreat that the 11th and 12 place corps that night were "judged exhibitions" a la 2003.
  9. In 2007 it was a combined effort between Renegades and Skyliners. They were outfitted in Sky's uniform for finals retreat. I had to bring our whole wardrobe to Rochester that year to get everyone fitted.
  10. The Conquistadors aren't officially going but our members that are will be at the Hyatt Regency
  11. Friday Mostly Sunny and Warm High: 86 Low: 61 Saturday Partly Sunny High: 81 Low: 58 Too early to tell for Sunday yet.
  12. September 30th is approaching quickly! Check out our website, fill out an interest form, and join us for our annual Membership Day!
  13. I disagree. Marching brass prices can be compared directly on Kanstul's site and G bugles are way cheaper than Bb/F brass.
  14. But they aren't as in tune and are therefore inferior. (never thought id be on the Bb side lol)
  15. That was going to be my statement. DCA is a great way to build up your talents and then you can go to DCI. After aging out DCA will welcome you back with open arms.
  16. The Conquistadors Winterguard of Johnson City, NY is looking for instructors for the upcoming season. If you are looking for a place to teach, check out our website at www.conquistadorswinterguard.org and fill out an interest form. We hope to hear from you!
  17. I don't think people are having any issue with the points other than they are being thrown out as absolute truth. The real issue is the elitist know it all attitude that seems to be radiating from the OP. My advice to the original poster; If you are going to say something controversial, you are going to #### people off. Don't come back and insult their intelligence. It makes you look like the ignorant one. Okay, back to fantasy drum corps
  18. No luck there. Nor on sheetmusicplus or musicnotes.com...
  19. Yeah, smells kinda like the end of your show. It could gag a maggot and make an onion cry!

    Loss

Does anybody know where I can find sheet music to Don Ellis' Loss? It is extremely difficult to find and I would like to use it for I and E this year at DCAs. If anyone has any leads or can dig something up for me, please let me know!
  21. I'm going to championships as a spectator for the first time in 17 years and I just want to be entertained! A class, open class, alumni, I don't care. If Bucs do win then I hope that its by one or two captions because that's the kind of excitement I like to see.
  22. Potomac River Knights, my old rival. A lot of us also still want to see Buena Vista come back from season 1
  23. Didn't you also earn the coveted most hated director designation that year too?
  24. I will be there all weekend. Doing I and E Friday night representing the real Conquistadors
