  1. I still want to know the purpose of those pads on their thighs! It makes their legs look short and squat.
  2. Mine has been pretty flawless today. The other night was awful. Today is great. Not a shill.
  3. Have the pools of ink always been around the pins? I don't remember noticing them before.
  4. If our friends in Canada can't get FloMarching how can you?
  5. What are those things on their thighs? They look like some motorcrose pad or something.
  6. Watching on mobile feed and having no issues.... Hey! 1st post in 7 years!
  7. So. I am sitting on my front porch with the laptop, a cold beverage and a cigar enjoying a drum corps show from halfway across the country remembering all the things we used to have to do to keep up with our beloved activity. Does anyone remember 1-900-CAN-DRUM? How about the 1st year they put up a web cam. i think there was picture from the top corner of the stadium every minute or something. It is a good time to be a fan. On another note. Are there any other niche activities with this kind of online access? Underwater Basket Weaving Nationals on a web subscription service? Just curious. Don
  8. I believe the 2nd tune was "Sleep" by Eric Whitiker(?)
  9. "Either except that this wonderful activity of utter excellent will change with the times and technology, or go away." I believe the poster was suggesting that the activity either changes or risks disappearing, a sentiment with which I agree. Not "love it or leave it".
  10. Are they marching a contra whole? I only count 11.
  11. Has a corps ever moved? now that i ask it, i remember Southwind has moved. it seems like they have every thing they need except kids... and here in Central NC we have kids but no Div II/III corps within 8-10 hours or so. I mean, would'nt you rather see the Madison Glory Cadets from Madison NC then an inactive group? Call me!!! :) Don
  12. I don't know if it would be enough have its own station... BUT as part of a larger Wind station...encluding Wind ensemble Brass band drum corps...that kind of stuff... I thin kit could work. I love Sirius but they only have a handfull of clasical stations and will occasionally play a WE piece. Don
  13. I have a question from our seasoned members.... Has'nt the cycleing of old fans for new has been going on the whole time? Whatever the "change" is that makes people say "thats not the drum corps I know anymore". Was the same thing going on back with the removeing the valve lock or the introduction of the rotor. Did the old timers leave when the corps started seperating from the VFW post, churches, boys clubs and legion Post. Lets not get into the whole forming of DCI and the combine. Did people leave shows in the early saying, "these theme shows aren't drum corps" and never came back? I'm not saying "good ridence" in any way. I love the fact that we have about 40 years of recorded (literaly) history to share and eveyone of those people should be appreciated for their dedication. I once worked with a guy who had marched one year with a Div I corps in the early 80's and when I found out I was like cool lets swap tales of the road and share in our common brotherhood of drum corps, and we shared a couple of stories and figured out we knew a few of the same people. One day I brought it up and he said "Dude, I did not get the same thing out of drum corps that you did, it was just this thing I did one summer, nothing else" I can't imagine that. I'm sure most of us can't. But how many people out there are like that? What do we owe them? Don
  14. ok... I was'nt going to say this because it seemed too obvious but.... Could it be that the top 5 corps were there because they were better then the bottom 7? They marched better, played better, do whatever it is guards do better. Could they have had superior products performed superiorly (is that a word?) Could the vocals (gasp) have been part of a superior product? I'll be honest... i was'nt fond or the Bjork protion of the Cadets and i did'nt like the Blue Devils offering this year at all but the vocals had nothing to do with that. I kind of dug the drum speak in both Bluecoats and Cadets. Does everything HAVE to be a plot? I think naration and vocals have become a tool in the tool chest of program coordinators and they will make the decision based on whether it works for thier show. Don
  15. I have a question about resolution. Someone discribed it as looking at 27" TV blown up to the size of a movie screen. I think that discribed it well. I thought it looked like the old rear projection screens. Did that depend on the theatre? I think I've become a Hi-Def Snob. What excactly is the projection system. I'm really not complaining, i am very thankful tfor the technology and willingness of DCI to provide the show. Don
  16. Ok, i wrote last night with the new version and the text box template alone is worth the money! MY only complaint now is it takes 3 minutes to connect to my online acount. I reinstalled the viewer on my computer it it connects in seconds but the full version is like using a dial up. other then that, I like alot. Don
  17. As someone all ready mentioned, i imagine it had to do with how the rule was written. Rule A: If you use a triger, you get disqualified. Rule B: If you use electionics, you recieve a 2 point penelty. (after all...who would use electronics in drum corps?) So, i see no double standard. Don
  18. Ive never used the audio because of the manual synchrinization. I'm not that patience or steady with the beat. Does 3.0 get rid of that?
  19. Heres a problem that is just too time consuming. I had written my whole opener and realized i neaded to move the whole thing about 8 steps back from about page 4 to 19(end). This is easy to to, just select everyone and use the push tool. The problem is it totally messes up the animation, it does that jump thing back to their old position on beat one of each move, and if you have any follow the leaders, they are totally lost. This works as far as the individual page and coordinate sheets are concerned but the animation is toast. Its just tooo time consuming to redo everything just for the animation. I wish their was a step editor like the count editor. You could insert 8 steps starting at the front sideline and it would just push everything back. Does anyone use the online portion. I post the drill for a few of my customers who down load it and look at it. Most don't mess with the whole stedent account thing, although the one who does swears by it. And another thing!!! I wish there was a way for a director to have some kind of reader like the student viewer that would allow them to print the drill and coordinate sheets without having to buy the full program. It would make dilivery so much easier. If there is a way to do that with the student viewer, I have missed it. I know the can pring individual coordinate sheets, but i don't think they can print the drill. Lets keep this going... this is nice :) Don
  20. I'm doing 8 including my own. I generally write for small bands, I mean real small, 3 of mine are under 30 horns and my band only has 31. That presents a whole world of issues. The most I've ever done in a season is 10...that was rough. One of these is for a very good friend who does'nt compete so I just try to make it easy to teach and learn. My worst nightmare is writing costom drill for an awful package show.
  21. Now that you mention it. I think a pyware forum would be good. I would love to see a band directors forum. Maybe part of MBP if it's not allready. So just curious.... how many do you write a season?
