  1. Oh Lord. YouTube gifted me with the original apparently. Seeing these HS kids do this only affirms my laughter at the sort of things we hyped over in the 80s with the drum line. It's 2011 but cliche right down to the one of the tenors having a beard making it look like he's taking the 12th grade for the 7th time or something.
  2. I just rewatched. It really is on point for 80s drumline beats. Which makes it even more hilarious as an in joke
  3. Oh "camp" not auditions. Hmm. Ok then, It's still a great way to be 'seen' by a lot of corps staff and get noticed.
  4. The auto generated announcements from the newsfeed for DCP don't always generate a ton of response. I suspect the auditions will be a win for the Combine. They did this in the past too I think. Makes for a lot of multiple opportunities for feedback and selection across the. corps. "Didn't get in with the corps you were dreaming for? But this corps' staff saw you and has a contract ready for you to consider."
  5. Grew up in Ft. Wayne. The joke about Carmel in my time was... Even the kids from Carmel laughed at that one.
  6. Enter the Dragon Warrior! it'll be a Bruce Lee inspired choreo show with music from his movies and ... Kung Fu Panda! A certain tuba player has been contracted to shape his glorious Fro to create the Po character. Auditions being held for the rest of the Furious Five.
  7. Year of the Dragon was dropped a few times earlier in Mandarins chatter. I have my suspicions
  8. Tasing him in front of his students seems wildly out of order. It’s a band song. Wait until they finish the song then they could have arrested him in an orderly way most likely.
  9. Then there's the Alabama police apparently... https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/18/us/alabama-band-director-tased-arrested/index.html
  10. Saw this appear on my feed. For some reason it seemed like a drum corps meme. I dunno why 😅
  11. That thing was called the Witch's Wheel at Cedar Point. One time on college road trip, there was zero line for it and the gal running it was forced to do this stupid dialog about it that included a witch cackle. She was so bored because no one was riding it but she had to do the whole dialog and run it every so often to draw people to it. Her whole delivery and cackle were aboslutely sarcastic as heck and hilariously so. We decided, "Let's give her some riders and run through the line fast after getting off to see how many times in a row we can ride it before we feel we can't." That number was 3.
  12. They do have DCI scheduling three consecutive shows in June that basically serve as the California open class prelims/semis/finals. Even did a full retreat at the end of the last one. They seemed fairly well attended if I recall. Gold was the only one to continue on. Of course. No one got paid by DCI for appearing cause open class. Unlike if they banded together and did the shows themselves.
  13. Well of course. I mean. He literally said at one point going public re: Bingo was his next step.
  14. Yeah i think this was the show at Chester where the Philadelphia Union play. Led to the whole deal where DCI doesn't go there anymore. It definitely would impact the use of props over a certain weight tearing into the turf. And/or getting straight up stuck if it was wet.
  15. Yeah. With NFL stadia moving to mega domes. I don't see full grass being viable. I mean they ... could I suppose. They rake enough money in to do a new sod on a tray every week probably. And frankly, using Rodgers' injury to renew the cry for grass fields seems laughable. I mean sure, the turf situation might not have helped him avoid injury, but the fact that he's a 39 year old man with a battered body playing a full contact sport where he's the target for getting hit might be a larger contributing factor.
  16. Indeed. This is good for the Stars. They’ve had a weird disconnect sometimes between the sections and Markworth can being experience to the team in how to mesh it together
  17. Yup. One of the most outstanding conductors in recent years. When they closed the last note on New Road West, it was super emotional.
  18. Work from Anywhere is practically a norm in finance anymore. My sister is an accountant with a large firm and they finally started making her come into work three days a week again mostly because they need to justify the cost of the office building. Almost all her work is done from the office with those in other locations.
  19. Let's just take the average and round up the decimal and allow 12.
  20. I posted some things back in 2016 when we found a picture of his corps going through old pictures and it started a whole conversation. I had no idea where to put it. Since it was sort of an all age thing mostly of vets but had a couple of HS kids...but not a DCA as they did the AL circuit back then. So I threw it in the All Age historical forum.
