  1. We had a lot more convicts or eventually-to-become convicts in the corps I marched than music majors. I turned out OK, but I do recall Dad telling his friends when I was in college that his son was majoring in f-ing up.
  2. Yeah, I think everyone involved in corps be it dino-fans like me or current participants realize that .While all of that is likely true, it's still heartwarming to hear stories like @2000Cadet's., @Sutasaurusand @TenHut.
  3. Ditto @keystone3ply's reply. You are gold, young man.
  4. Ooo boy. That's a can of worms that's going to prompt some question.
  5. No good. When new Coke came along in '85, they would have been drummed out of DCI.
  6. Or turning our backs on each other as a community and family (meaning DCP and the whole corps world). I too plan to write a check to my favorites as I do every year and probably even one or two small, OC corps I never even had much interest in or was a fan of. Families come together in times of crisis. They don't bicker and place blame on the details of that crisis.
  7. North Star was a blast. Such fun and entertaining shows back then. That soprano soloist in Ole', wow. Though I think I read on here he passed away a short while ago. He was awesome. That Chrome Wall featured some awfully young snare drummers, too. Great talent.
  8. I got the notice. I'm not a Facebookie, so I guess I'll miss out on my $1.25.
  9. If by some chance SCV medals in 2024, that SCV BOD should all only get Tour Participant Ribbons.
  10. They did going back to at least the 70s. We did, though they were more weekend camps than a full weeks long spring training. By the way, did everyone know that Al Gore invented the Internet?
  11. Apologies, young fella. No harm intended. Sometimes jokes fall flat.
  12. The same society that follows Travis & Taylor around like flies and you have to ask?
  13. @Hook'emCavies just PM'd me. He says he missed it by *that* much.
  14. From today's headlines: The formation of a new “supercontinent” could wipe out humans and all other mammals still alive in 250 million years, researchers have predicted. We've still got a little time. It's not stopping my Bucket List from getting filled, though. Only 312 wishes to go. And I think BD's dynasty (not necessarily championships) will last as long as DCI does.
  15. I thought it interesting and a good way to introduce prospects to the activity. A collaborate effort makes it an even better idea. It's great of those staff people to offer their time. As Terri would always say, fail to plan, plan to fail. This is forward thinking. I don't know that a lot of kids will give a hoot about Pioneer's back story, though.
  16. Sure, as could any corps lasting 40, 50, 60 years +. I was thinking more in terms of their rides up and down the Open, Class A, Division III etc etc.
  17. If there were a DCI Perseverance Award, the Blue Stars would take it in a heartbeat. A truly amazing history.
  18. I dunno. You really think he'll take one for the team and go for this look?
