  1. I agree with all of it. With my personal favorite being SCV 1999.
  2. Sounds like the same school we stayed at for DCI 1997. I like Florida but hated performing there for our prelims and finals in 1997 ( being open class we performed in the afternoon.. uuuuugh) and hated being a fan under the rain in 2003.
  3. I'm not going to explain on here the whole there is no year 0 thing... if you want to discuss then you can PM me. I believe the year 2000 still belongs in the 20th century. That's all I was saying. Some people go with a different calendar, apparently.
  4. I haven't read the article because I'm not permitted to go on blogs at work (websense block) but I read the list that was copied here. Very interesting. I want to mention a completely unimportant and technical fact: 21st century starts on January 1, 2001. If you're going to officially call it "The best shows of the 21st century" then all the *year* 2000 shows shouldn't be on that list. Just sayin'. It's just a technicality. Great top 30 nonetheless. Edited by me to clarify my comment.
  5. I bought the 2004 DCA championships and will never buy anything from BVP again! The image and sound is alright (not great), but everything else, from camera angles to positioning, timing and multiple options (which are non-existent), it really blows, compared to a DCI DVD. Now someone else can come here and tell you why it's like that, I don't really care for "why" BVP can't seem to produce a good quality DVD, I just want what I pay for, and they are not giving that. Now if the DVD was $10 I wouldn't care for quality. That's just my opinion though.
  6. Oh yeah I had forgotten about that one! Doesn't get anymore in your face than that! haha
  7. Well that's an understatement. You are confusing self-importance with self-expression. Plus, self-importance, or being unique, has always been a desire in human history and I don't see why that could ever be a bad thing. People wanting to be unique and expressing their feelings and emotions by ink so it stays with them forever as nothing to do with a lack of confidence, either. I know PLANTY of confident succesful people with tattoos. It's just art. It's just another form of expression. You would be surprise of the people you think might not have tattoos that actually do, hidden under their clothes. People YOU would consider having "enough confidence to never feel the need for one" ... But if it makes you feel more important or sanitary not to have one... good for you!
  8. The best opener for me is SCV 1999. Perfect build up in intensity. I love that stuff.
  9. What you define as "control freak" I always saw as perfectionist. Gino knows what works and will try everything in his power to get the best out of the brassline he teaches. If that is what you define as control freak... that's your opinion. It's fine. Made me laugh though. For the ego part. Well yeah. He does have a huge ego, and he should. He is the best! Even if Surf's brassline sees Gino 2 or 3 times in the season, they will be better players for sure! Congrats Surf!
  10. Really?? SCV alone makes that year worth it!!! In my opinion... 2002 and 2005
  11. Starting from the DCA I know, meaning starting in 1999: Visually, none. I did like Cabs' drill when it was written by Michael Gaines. But overall I don't care for DCA visual much. I like performing it, but not watch it. lol Musically, Brigs 2001, 2002 and 2004, Cabs 2003 and 2004, Renegades 2005, Bushwackers 2006 and 2008. Obviously there are shows in 2009 that would make the list, but I have only seen the DCP 2-3 minutes videos of finals, so I can't comment on it.
  12. Well with that in mind then Brigs should have remained undefeated through 2004. lol! ( no negativity towards the corps that actually won here, just making a point) you would think the organization have it all figured out because they have been winning for so long until another corps pulls one out of their ##### and beats the champion the weekend before the championships. The Bucs have a great organization but MBI is getting closer and closer to the right formula, I'd say next season is gonna happen. Maybe it's more hope than an actual prediction though. I do enjoy the unpredictability of a competition, so DCA is becoming quite boring at the top 2 level! ...Edited because I can't spell...
  13. That's the best response of all Mark you're the best!
  14. Some corps don't allow their members to compete in I&E. They take that time to rehearse.
  15. Yes it was the first show for Cadets, Brigs and ES, although I think it was Cavs 3rd show. Edit: yup just verified on corpsreps. 3rd show for Cavs and 1st for the rest of us.
  16. The atmosphere was so cool. I'd really like to see the top 2 DCI and DCA "compete" like that again. It's an unforgettable moment for members.
  17. Brigs and ES were invited to the Tie Breaker of Cadets and Cavaliers in 2001 in Buffalo in mid June. Both circuit are kind of at the beginning of the season and *ahem* pretty dirty. It was a lot of fun. Results were: Syracuse Brigadiers 75.550 The Cadets 72.550 Cavaliers 72.350 Empire Statesmen 66.350 of course the sheets were different. And of course the crowd loved the seniors much better
  18. I live at 5 minutes of Molson's brewery and headquarters. Too bad I ain't making the trip to DCA this year, I could bring you guys any kind you want!
  19. That one. Oh and my actual vote is that Dino BBQ goes out of business on Friday. :)
  20. Hey, that's me too. Cavaliers 2006 is one of the most played on my itunes. I see it all over again in my head and it's genius. The brass is forgetable but the pit/drums are just amazing. Now Phantom 06 I saw/heard once. I liked it but never thought of it again, I will go back and listen to it now.
