You know what they say about assumptions, and as to “picking up” on the “formula”, other words come to (my) mind. Emulate if I’m being politically correct, imitation/copycat if I’m more precise. When you “merely” marginalize a premier organization in the activity to another face in the crowd you state clearly how you view the activity. I see it vastly different.

Was unaware the same judges adjudicating the Detroit premier would also be in my fair city (Clovis) the next evening. As we are the best West Coast "Premier" show venue yearly I am surprised I did not know this!?! Is this new? Did they fly commercial? Transporter??

Imitation is a sincere form of Flattery. Better layer your own BLOO into this show or the BLUE comparisons will be the topic of '18. Inspiration perhaps... btw the show is a contender in my eyes, I just see and, hear too much BLUE...

Just to be clear, I am making my observation on an area I see easily “contained.” I am not calling out any group, Individual or thematic endeavor. In fact I believe I offered kudos to Crown as the progression to spandex develops. I have worn dance belts and various undergarments as part of my training and suggest this could be a non-issue. I grow weary of seeing muffin tops, arm pit hair, camel toes, and most of all, the "family jewels" bag! I wonder how the MM feel about all the "junk" on the field. I hope there isn't body shaming as a result of a designers pen to paper...Crown's layering this year seem to alleviate the "topography" issues of the past few seasons. Sexuality sure, I am referring to the execution and thought that would make this a non-issue.

My comment on your comparison to SCV was 3 fold. 1) IMO Phantom's '17 props(?) were easily the worst of the season. I am excited to see the usage of the wooden structures you post! 2) Being from California I saw Ouroboros many times and as rough as the initial use of the stages were, what a great "prop" integration they became. Finally, I love a great drill as much as anyone, but as the art evolves I look forward to the thematic design elements imagined on the field. From your posted pic I see Phantom in WGI inspired cosiforms, props(!) and mic'd brass. Phantom in 2018 is alive and well!

My hometown, Clovis is a suburb of Fresno, so our 32nd ranking (1 above Canton?!) stings. Fresno is a lot of things but it really isn't as bad as the Mini Series of the same name! AND West Coast tour starts here! Mid-Cal California Dons FresYES! not so much...

Having just voted, I am intrigued what motivates this timely Socio/Financial conversation. The all-mighty Mission Statement penned by every 501c3 is lofty and vague at best. As a fan I have always considered the remaining all male corps to have the deepest traditions and yes, Brotherhood that exemplifies their Mission Statement. The Mission Statement seems to be wielded as a weapon against this time honored tradition. If the organization is willing to reinvent themselves for a greater genetic pool I fear they can't see the forest for the trees. If we force inclusiveness and become " like everyone else" then we are all diminished.

Rounded shoulders and the hood(ie) make them look rather Q-Tipish… just my opinion. Missing squared off epaulette "wings"... Love the design/graphic and homage to tradition. Overall and all things considered, could have been (much) worse! Final thought regarding PR, please utilize props that harmonize with show design, or none at all.

Some say Bloo does it their way, have "vision"... others say they somehow out BD'd Blue Devils? Imitation is flattery?? Perhaps an Homage? Obviously a 5th place show didn't achieve results, unfortunate or not. Fosse didn't field anything as high brow, as interesting and as brilliant storytelling as felliniesque. PERIOD. The uniform comparisons to 2014BD pale in comparison... on and on. I wasn't fan of BLOO in years gone by. Since 2013 I've been impressed with the design team and direction, since Tilt I've looked forward to the contribution they bring to the activity. I look forward to seeing what this premier group brings, but the roar of the crowd is becoming a distracting din. Actually an embarrassment...Perspective, 1 title welcome to an elite group. Good Luck in 2018!
