  1. I remember that guy as well, and another "Wildman" surfaced in Atlanta CV with my son in 2015. Not the same guy...though interestingly enough, another Spirit 1979 Baritone marched with my 17-year old son in 2016! Dude was in better shape at age 58 than anyone else on the horn line. I think he'd STILL be marching if he hadn't developed some "non marching" health issues. Davis ( my son) told me this guy would take the whole Baritone line out on PT runs when they were in Rochester and kick all their butts!
  2. I didn't march DCI but my brother marched Spirit of Atlanta from 79-81. I was fascinated with some of the nicknames when I was around the Corps. Sasquatch - Very tall soprano soloist HUHA - An acronym that I'm not going to repeat the meaning of. TUHA- I believe he was the second HUHA the following season. Starvin' Marvin- no idea why All the rest aren't suitable for the forum. :-)
  3. This is very cool! Thanks for posting. I wonder if Cavies "swing" would have drawn tighter if it was a 20-year analysis with their run between 2000-2004. :-) Leave it to a biased parent to want to "recut" the data. :-)
  4. Thankfully not until move-ins...though I think those may be in Michigan again this year. But he'll be there next weekend for camp!
  5. I'm a Cavaliers parent, and I'd sign up for this right now. Well...maybe I'd like to see them in 4th over Boston. But the main reason I'd sign up for this is I'm rooting HARD for Spirit of Atlanta to get back in the mix. There's simply no reason with the talent that's all over metro Atlanta and neighboring states that Spirit shouldn't be in the thick of things. Hope that they've started their journey back!
  6. I will do! He remembers meeting you for sure! And yes, he’s quite proud of being an Atlanta CV Alumni!
  7. That is indeed my son, Davis! Couldn't be prouder of the kid! I'll miss hearing all that horn preparation, but honestly...now that he's been in college for a couple of years, I wasn't hearing that much of it anymore anyway. 2019 is going to be a special season for us. Cavies start in California and Davis is on the "hands" team. My wife and I are very excited!
  8. Yep...in Nada! Awesome signature Mac and Cheese and a mean skinny margarita! Gonna do my best to be on the west coast with them as a volunteer!
  9. I've been away from DCP for most of the off-season. Two years ago at this time I was biting my nails worried about whether my kid was going to make a roster. Today, it was announced that he will be one of the 4 Drum Majors for the Cavaliers! Couldn't be prouder of the kid! And can't wait for the 2019 season! See you down the road!
  10. This looks interesting! https://cavaliers.org/news-blog/cavaliers-brass-masterclass?fbclid=IwAR0fT2rlm5PumiYeuAvl5trwGONyxBYWg47QWl1Nr-7KAVVbTxQL8sGrPUg
  11. This...right here...is why I feel both proud of my son being a Cavalier and blessed enough that he has the talent and work ethic to be there. I tend to get caught "scoreboard watching" way more than he ever has. His attitude is "be our best...let the chips fall...and move on". As he enters his third audition season with the Cavaliers, I've repeatedly reiterated to my wife that while it's expensive, it's every bit as worthwhile as the education process he receives in college. I count those fees as tuition at this point.
  12. I can't even get the Box 5 page to load....anyone else having this issue?
  13. Didn't really "feel" a difference in the top 6 except for maybe more for SCV. Cadets got the love because of all they've been through in 2018. Mandarins definitely got the love for their first appearance in Finals. That's my view from 537, 30 yard line.
  14. Cavies are under BAC by 0.185 and has beaten BAC twice in the last 10 days. Crown is still 1.4 ahead of BAC and hasn’t lost to BAC all season. I don’t know what “much more likely” means in your vernacular, but I suspect yours is a heart driven comment than a head driven one. And I totally understand...I’m a total Cavies homer. That said, there’s plenty of data in front of both of us to clearly state which scenario is more likely. And the MOST likely scenario is that 4-5-6 stays just as it is.
  15. Things I’d like to see tonight ranked from most likely to least likely: 1. Cavies reclaim 5th from BAC 2. Bloo edging out BD for 2nd. 3. Spirit making Top 12.
