  1. Houston Willowbrook here. Best crowd for this theater in the 3 years going to the Qtrs there. Half the theater gave Phantom a standing O. Good applause for most other shows. Cheers for the 2 judges having Phantom on top. No booing when the final scores were announce. A couple of sound skipping issues, nothing major. The theater even had the sound louder then the past years but not as loud as I would have liked.
  2. That is too cool. Hopefully, this will continue with the rest of the web-casts, since I plan on being in the Alamodome on Saturday...
  3. Lucky duck. I come from the Gunspoint area on the way home, so only have to deal with 6 miles of 290 traffic (which is more then enough). For those going tonight and using 290, it is quicker to take the Telge exit, go left on Telge to West Rd, then right on West. This will probably save you a good 10 minutes then exiting at Barker-Cypress.
  4. I live at Telge and West Rd. So if I make it home, the next 2.5 miles to the stadium is a cake walk.
  5. Don't you just love the start time of 7, and the first corps on at 7:30. I should have no problems getting home from work, and making it to the show.
  6. Here is a link with a list of all housing locations. some are staying the night. Houston Housing
  7. good thread....except for the Arby's comment .... making a list of places to attempt to hit next time in SA. Which will be sometime again this summer. We have a 2 year season pass for Sea World.
  8. certainly not alone. I enjoyed every show in the top 18. and the others I didn't see, and am sure I probably would enjoy them as well.
  9. Good review Brandon, and I agree with you on most points. I also thought Blue Stars would beat Gmen. BAC was surprisingly good, and that they would be higher then scored. SCV I also thought would be higher, their drill is amazing, and loved the music. Also loved the Bottle-dance step. The Cavaliers had the wipe out during Pressure where 1 member fell, took out another, and almost got a third. Also a lost shoe, and a piece of one the snare's fell off, and then pretty much kicked across the field. Even with all that, they were freaking awesome. I don't I have seen that much color-guard equipment tossing since the 80's My cousin is a color guard fanatic, and she loved both the rifle tosses that SCV had during their show.
  10. At the moment the Radar is looking much better. My fingers are crossed for a dry evening...
  11. Weather ain't looking too hot at the moment, but hopefully will get better as the day goes on. Rain and Thunder downtown and moving NW
  12. the stream showed a near waterfall for about 5 seconds, I am guessing that be section 324
  13. I also thought the venue was fantastic for the show, and hope they come back there next year. Also helps that I only live about 2 miles from the stadium. This was the first event in the football stadium, and some of the ushers didn't know which section was which. Had no issue with that, though, just growing pains of the new facility.
  14. Did they not turn it up last night? Seemed to me that the volumn increased at the beginning of Madison compared to the earlier shows. I do find it hard to believe that they play normal movies on "5" there
  15. I attended the Houston showing here. Smaller theater then last year, and was probably 60-70% full. Much better crowd this year, I thought. Really seemed to enjoy the shows with some sarcastic comments thrown in for the earlier corps. Aflac comment for the Bridgemen Bird was pretty good. Cesario had many folks laughing. First time seeing 75 2-7, and loved the show. I have always enjoyed seeing Rifles, and seeing how precise and in-sync they were always amazes me. BD 79, I saw this at Finals when I was 13, good show. Precise and clean. Bridgemen 80. One of my all time favorites. Saw this show many times in the weeks leading up to finals, and loved seeing it on the big screen. As was commented on above, I can also listen to In The Stone all day long. Lots of laughing at the antics, and some seemed to be surprised by the football game at the end. Madison 88. Last Finals I have been able to attend. (I need to work on that) Best response of the night for the Houston crowd, although Phantom was close. The electricity is still amazing to me after 18 years. Phantom 89. Just plain classic Phantom! Crossman 92. Never really watched this show before on the Legacy DVD, but will now. WOW. Star 93. Great show, but for some reason, I love listening to it more then watching it. I think it stands up well to the test time, and see why people seem to love it more now then in 93. Cavies 95 - For some reason this show never has hooked me. I love the music, and everything is done so well in the show, but there are other Cavies show I like more. SCV 99 - Another show that doesn't do much for me, but is amazing how perfect the sound was. Crown got some laughs from the crowd for the poetry. I love the ending Bloooo - I was glad to see this on big screen again. I really enjoy this concept from DCI as it shows the history on the activity and see how much the shows have changed and grown from the symmetric drills of the 70s to the musical precision of today.
  16. From the Fandango site, it shows the runtime to be 6 hrs. let's see if this works. DCI Tickets for Houston
  17. Is it just the top 17 or is it all of Qtr Finals? DCI site does not really say anymore. Last year, the show started at 6 Central time and finished around 11, and it looks like the theater is scheduled from 4 to 10 Central time this year, so the theater is booked for at least an extra hour, .
  18. I agree with most of the comments Mike made. Watching BD left me kinda of blah, but listening to the APD last night, I liked the show much better. From the pre-intermission group, I enjoyed the Glassmen the most, then SCV. Phantom was my favorite from the final 6. All in all, a very entertaining and enjoyable show top to bottom.
  19. I saw the presentation in Houston. Someone had to complain about the sound during the intermission, because after the break, it was where it should have been all night. Nice and loud. I would saw the theater was about 85% full. Didn't have a clue about what kind of crowd it would be, but is was a blast. Cheering and applauding during the shows. Much thanks to DCI for doing this, and hope they do it again.
  20. The way I heard this explained, was that the turn to back was the end of the rock concert, and everything after that was the encore.
