  1. She has been an instructor mostly, and with lots of corps, but I'm not moved by the change at all.
  2. Also a major change for Academy, there's a new program coordinator, Lindsey Vento, who doesn't seem to have any major design experience aside from choreography, which she will continue to do with the group's hornline.
  3. Maybe if DCI could find a way to properly monetize... they could give a little more than $500
  4. If what I've been hearing is true, I'd say it's more insane...
  5. I noticed in the Chris Holland cuts that his polo had an adidas logo along with the corps logo. Does adidas endorse a drum corps??
  6. We already know that Cadets are doing Bernstein again though
  7. I can confirm the rumor about them leaving for Cadets is 100% not true. Taking your post with a grain of salt, other destinations are still open.
  8. I'm shocked that no one's directly mentioned the final turnaround at the end of the ballad. Awesome effect imo. Doesn't take away from the idea of doing the ballad the way they want to, while still giving the audience what it deserves.
  9. So I think at this point it'd be a safe bet (not a guarantee) to say that Blue Devils and Vanguard will be 1 and 2, with the order to be decided. Blue Devils are still undefeated, if I'm not mistaken, but they had their closest gap last night with Vanguard being back only .1 points. A lot of people are wondering if Vanguard will be able to "pull the upset" and win gold, but just for the sake of conversation, let's say that Vanguard sweeps BD from now til Championships, meaning they ride first into that weekend. Would winning gold still be considered an upset over BD? Is BD earned the point to where any time anyone other than them wins gold, it's considered an upset?
  10. Imo, all groups in the top 5 (having Boston ahead of Cavaliers in my top 5) have winning shows. It's really gonna come down to night by night performance, who peaks at the right time, and who's keeping the audience's attention the most on each and every night. I honestly wouldn't be shocked to see any placement in that top 5, they're all so dang good and so well designed.
  11. I know of multiple corps that do it over preseason having their members look at end-of-weekend runs and look for specific things while they're not together between camps, but I don't know how much it's utilized on tour.
  12. Well in that case, instead of surveying DCP, which is largely made up of people old enough to have kids in the activity (or older), shouldn't we be surveying the youth that DCI exists to serve? Everything I've seen shows that the vast majority of members, and audience members of the member age, approve. When members stop joining or spectators stop buying tickets because of it, then it's too big of a problem.
  13. I think that if the audio/engineering team is good enough to do it, it would work. Bluecoats already implement it a lot, Vanguard implements it with the small ensemble, and really it's more prevalent than people realize. If you can make it so it doesn't blatantly stick out, and everything meshes together well, hey, I'm all for having damaged ears after 12 minutes.
  14. Wouldn't it be cool if Cadets stayed with the religious topic but moved in a different direction for their 2018 program and did an exorcist type show? That'd be really cool
  15. Hey the process looks to be starting to work out for the Sixers now. Maybe it's a five year process that results in a gold for Cadets in 2022?? /s
  16. Sounds like a combination of it being hard for them to tune that chord and them maybe wanting to leave it unresolved at that point in the piece.
