  1. I am single and live pretty much paycheck to paycheck, but since the $$ for finals tickets was already paid for, i will pledge to donate that money when it comes, in addition to the donations I already made last week. Edit: since we can’t get refunds, i rolled my tix to next year and then made my donations to the corps i support.
  2. Thanks for the tip on the shuttle. I went last year for the first time but never went to military park because i can’t walk that far! (Old broken vertebrae in my spine!). I would imagine that if the shuttle will bring you back to the stadium, it will also take you from the staidum to the park? Now i just have to find out where the pick up/drop off spot is. Thanks for sharing!
  3. I never marched drum corps but we used drum corps fiberglass rifles in the late 70s and they weighed about 4 lbs. i could toss (and catch!) a quad with one, and always wondered how high i could toss the ones they use now!
  4. Or a Dolphins fan! Good thing i have my Devils and Yankees,
  5. Chip Crotts is listed on the BD 2020 A Corps staff page
  6. You are not alone. I LOVED the Bluecoats show, but mostly because they played the Beatles music. I didn’t care for all of the doodads cluttering up the field, and i didn’t think their guardwork was anything special. I don’t even really understand how they won GE! As for SCV/Crown, i didn’t care for either one. I disliked Crown less than i disliked SCV.
  7. Confession time: one of the reasons i am so glad BD won, aside from the whole “it was the best show”, “the performance level was off the charts”, and “it totally deserved it”, was that i have my Beatles music back now! In the couple of weeks leading to finals, i found listening to the Fab4 a bit difficult. Add to that that my middle child’s favorite Beatles tune is “Eleanor Rigby”, and the youngest’s is “Blackbird”! I would have forever listened to those tunes with a twinge of sadness had the BC won this year!

  10. this! And any day of the week i will prefer an upbeat show that puts a smile on my face over something dark and brooding.
  11. Someone on a previous string posted: "For Sale: 1 Giant. Head sold separately." I thought that was the best!
  12. For sale: Giant Plinko boards, not so gently used.
  13. For sale: 1 wall, 12 pieces, easy to assemble. Disclaimer: wall is known to fall down periodically, but not to worry. It will right itself quickly.
  14. The end of the last BD360 for this year (posted today?) has a recruiting message at the very end...
  15. I would actually love to see them go back to their roots with some updated Mangione or maybe some Chick Corea!
  16. Just had the privilege of buying breakfast at the airport for one of the snare drummers. He was proudly wearing his medal and when he saw me in my BD shirt he gave me a hug! Nice young man who aged out but still has a year in RCC. He protested a bit but i assured him it was the least i could do! And, fwiw, i am seeing a LOT of BD/Ghostlight shirts now.
  17. Must admit, i am enjoying the reactions i am getting this morning at the hotel and airport while wearing a BD shirt! For every 1 person who smiles and gives a thumbs up, i get 3 people scowling at me! I enjoy this because, if you are THAT kind of person, rubbing a little salt in the wounds is what you deserve! And i can say, with absolute sincerity that this was my favorite BD show ever! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S OVER ALREADY!!!!
  18. With as well thought out as all of the tiniest details are for this show, it would feel so wrong NOT to turn out the light. As i said weeks ago, and much like Cadevilina said, putting the wall back up, even right up front where they end the show, and everyone running behind except the guard member with the red train, to turn off the light would bring down the house. And remember, last year after the “show” was over, they all turned around to admire the painting, so a coda would not be out of the question here!
  19. The thing these kids and staff should take away from this year, scored be ######, is that this show is changing Drum corps once again. Guy in the hotel lobby just was with his 3 buddies, one of whom is a BD fan. Said he watched the show last night thinking “this show has to be off the chain to live up to the hype we have heard”. When it was over he said it was BETTER than he was expecting. Said “they seem to be reverting back to old school but are still so innovative”. Said he saw lots of cool MARCHING and he loved the minimalistic but highly effective props. Said comparing BD to BC is like apples and oranges and if BD don’t win it will be because the Beatles music is more accessible.
  20. Just visited a standing room only overflowing Starbucks decked out in full BD. Four people came up to me and said they never saw BD until last night and every single one said they were speechless when their show was over! Never saw anything like that and far and away the best of the bunch were just some of the Things i heard. I told each and every one of them and anyone within earshot that if they want BD to win, they are going to have to give them LOUD support, throughout the entire show, to counter the Bloos. And i think we should give a standing O for the ballad!!!
  21. Just arrived at my hotel! Waiting on my room and them heading over. LOS is pretty impressive from the outside! But i bet i will live what’s inside it even more!
  22. That was the first BD show i ever saw!
  23. Section 141, row 18, seat 20! Name is Diane!
  24. Seattle has a dome, right? That's more neutral than Indy...
