You have got to be stinkin' kidding me . Are you seriously apologizing for how the corps is scoring? Are you out of your mind? The only thing the brothers should be concerned with is busting their collective ##### in rehearsal and not holding anything back. The scores will follow; even when they don't if the brothers have worked to their absolute capacity (which is a given in the madison scouts) and give it everything they've got on the field at night then there is absolutely nothing to apologize for. I'm not aware if you're marching this summer or not, but if you are please know that the fans, and especially your alumni brothers are in your corner ready to support you and the rest of the brothers. Please never make the mistake of allocating any energy concerning placement or scoring. To the marching member it is literally a moot point if you are giving 110% and helping your brothers around you do the same. Win or lose the daily proccess is and must remain the same. Who cares? It's just for one night, and the guys running the show in mad town are not the kind of people that would keep rehearsal going if it became unproductive. I bet those guys woke up the next morning juiced the got something on the field. I know I always was. -Dave

I don't think it's ever been done on purpose in DCI. At least in the last 20 years. Our set-player in the 2001 Show (madison) had slight variations from night to night, but nothing completely different.

I used a cell phone from 2001-04. I don't remember how I got by without one from 99-00, but I do seem to remember spending ungodly amounts of time waiting in line for a payphone to say hi/bye to friends/family/girlfriends. The cell came in especially handy when trying to meet up with friends from other corps at the big shows, not to mention coordinating an inter-corps party with Phantom during our respective training camps in 02. ^0^

By they way, that fleur looks like it's just the completion of the half-fluer used in the past couple of years.

Those white hats make the "dots" for the drill. Having them in the pit in random locations muddies up the visual picture.

I aged out in '04. As stated by other above, 4-5 guys from UW-Madison, 2 from UW-Whitewater, 3-4 from UW-O'Claire, I'm forgetting some. One guy from MATC (the community college in mad)

When I marched at Scouts, there were very very few UW-Madison students in the corps. (Like 4)

I apparently met myself last summer at a band camp that I was clinicing at...the assistant band director had apparently mached a drum corps so I felt compelled to go share war stories with him during lunch. He looked somewhat similar to myself, age 21 (I was 22 at the time)roughly 6', fairly light blonde hair and bluish eyes. So I asked him what corps he marched with and he said, "A little corps out of Madison, WI". Since I hadn't ever met him beofre I was a little perplexed, but humored him for a moment and let him continue. I asked what he played and he told me he played baritone for his first four years, but his age out year he was drum major. I mentioned something about never seeing him before, and his reply was that if I saw the 2004 video, I definently had seen him. There I was, right in front of him, and he was claiming to be ME!!!!! I just let it slide, the director overheard the entire exchange. Don't remember seeing the assistant at the band competitions after that.

Just to be clear I was not implying sexual activity. Female attention on any level was extremely appreciated. (read also: conversation).

You guys sound like the PTA sometimes. Do the minors in the corps have the potential to break the law. Absolutely. Does it happen anyway. YUP! It was never a big deal when I marched (recently), and in the unfortunate situation when a rehearsal was comprimised by hangovers, punishment was handed out in the form of basics, and additional rehearsal time was scheduled in. No one ever had a problem with overdoing it again. As for the sex thing, well I wouldn't know in terms of the day to day nookie, but I do know that after shows, part of the fun was "interacting" with the ladies from other drum corps. RIght or wrong, I wouldn't change a thing about it. Maybe I'm too young (and childless) to know better, but I had a blast and it taught me alot about being an adult as oppossed to being on an extended high school band trip.
