  1. After what just posted out in the mountains….yeah, best to wait for either BA or San Antonio!
  2. Agreed!! Let’s chill!! One result is one result
  3. People can’t wait for them to meet at BA, Denton and SA first I guess, let’s chill!! Don’t be a doomer and let it ride and see what happens at some of the bigger shows yet to come this week! You’re not being a doomer btw, I’m just saying haha
  4. Yeahhh, it’s a bit surprising to see for them that there were a few captions that either matched with cont/achv. or the content is lagging behind. I wouldn’t anticipate this continuing for long, and won’t say that since it’s only one show and one take of it, but it is definitely concerning.
  5. Very nice work BLOO, it’ll be fun to see if there’s potential for a bit of see-sawing in results between corps, maybe Boston comes and tops both crown and Bloo at BA, Crown could get their get back, it’ll be interesting!
  6. Better hope these corps don’t trigger the broken arrow right in the middle of that field🔊🔊👀👀
  7. Was about to say the same thing, a ➕ for blue stars that they aren’t lagging too far behind regiment in that regard. Percussion judge taught at my alma mater too so that naturally caught my eye to see his name👀🫡
  8. Safe to say there’s gonna be a delayed showtime for the Denton show forecast of 104 for the high, not gonna dip too much before 7, although idk at what temperature organizers at other shows that were scorchers they thought would be good to start. Wasn’t the Arizona show really hot too?
  9. Agreed, it’s an opportunity cost for corps to switch up their regular tour plans and leave local fans wanting, in a variety of ways. Currently it’s not quite viable for anyone to mix it up just yet it seems like.
  10. I don’t think SCV really counts with this assessment, they’re practically next door neighbors with BD so them starting out west is a given😂 who really knows when corps out east are going to embark on a west coast tour again, most definitely needing those kinds of transport costs to stabilize among other things to be sound and prudent for them to do. And we all know the people out west should get a look at some of the awesome corps out east more often!! I’d argue vice versa too, imagine if BD did that?? Folks on this forum would go nuclear if they go undefeated then on an early east coast tour haha The west is huge, Cali’s huge, Utah, Arizona, Colorado they’re all HUGE. It’s a daunting endeavor for sure
  11. My guy, I didn’t mention placements, comparisons to other corps, we all know that they also will improve, I would imagine. I’m simply saying this is a very opportune time for Crown to dig in, that’s all👍
  12. Really curious to see what they’re able to accomplish with the time they have in between their last contest and this upcoming one! Much opportunity to clean and reassess! Huge opportunity for them as they ramp up for Little Rock, BA, and the Texas Tour!
  13. I’d also say to add to my last post is that being around people/a culture that would encourage someone to abuse substances/medication for speedier medical recoveries, the plethora of other reasons there may be, should never ever be tolerated or seen as a good thing/necessary evil/sacrifice. I definitely agree with that. We all know there’s the pivot that can be observed with high-pressure performers in various sports, artistic activities where this is a CONTENTIOUS issue with a very lengthy history to say the least.
  14. People can take what they may from this show, even to the level of glorification, it’s on someone to take it as far as “the Blue Stars are telling me that I should absolutely go drink some right now”. The whole personal responsibility argument should go both ways I feel, especially for young adults. I’m a prude, young and don’t drink myself and despise underage drinking and what it can lead to. It doesn’t take you being diagnosed with an alcohol dependency/disorder to make mistakes while under the influence. I don’t think BS are promoting further proliferation of this trend. There is not one single thing that compels someone to drink. Peer pressure, party culture, and social media exposure to glorifying said things(among other factors in my edit) I could argue are much more responsible for this than any kind of exploratory creation and interpretation of said experiences. Edit: looking into the topic of adolescent AUD and correlating adulthood outcomes further: if you start drinking early in adolescence, the likelihood of getting the disorder increases into adulthood. Having either childhood trauma/mental health issues, especially when already known/diagnosed are often comorbid with AUD, substance abuse as a whole, something probably some of us were told in awareness assemblies in school, now that I’m looking back on it. I do understand both sides and their concern. It is important to know that these conditions, and their situations that resulted in them arising are incredibly varying and complex. There is a spectrum of outcomes that can be observed, and thankfully, people can be helped to overcome these afflictions. For some it’s a harder road than others, some don’t make it out the other side, and while that is a somber note, It is a reality. We should definitely understand where people are coming from when they believe the program BS decided to undertake could be harmful, but I also believe there is much more to the issue at hand than simply saying they are glorifying this, and that’s all they’re doing with this show.
  15. I’m very much a “music go brrrr” kinda person, where most of my enjoyment from the activity comes from if I’m being honest, I like being stirred from what I hear more than what I see mostly, but of course when they work in tandem and click, it can be very magical. Some corps do it for me, some don’t in that regard. And usually guard and dance don’t do it for me or leave the most impression on me in any show. This reminds of a line from the Guardians movies, “there are those who dance, and those who don’t” and I definitely am more of the latter. Someone will make a dancer out of me at some point though haha and there are plenty of people there that are lucky to get smitten by more of the visual side of things that I don’t typically, good on them for being wired that way!
  16. And I definitely don’t think that would happen in BD’s case either, hence why I wouldn’t say there’s inflation, more so there’s going to be corps in their vicinity and that naturally lowers the rate of growth, and if the corps beneath them are competitive enough, the spread that we see later versus now
  17. The deflation does happen, most notably from Semis to finals night. Of course that is a far off example, didn’t happen to the very top 4 last year, but it did to many others in the top 12, you’re right that the others will definitely get a bit of a score bump. I’m just waiting to see where everyone is at when the finals format scoring at SA shows itself.
  18. Where that weight won’t necessarily be there when you have Crown, BAC, and Bloo to reel them back in some, at least that’s what I’m thinking, we’ll see if it happens
  19. I’m not gonna go so far as to say the judging has been massively inflated. I’m more looking at the lack of competition in each tier of point separation, plus the fact that the finalized version of scoring we won’t see until San Antonio(maybe earlier, I don’t recall if they have the full judge lineup at a later show) doesn’t give the most accurate depiction of where corps are quite yet. Both out east and west, I’m more so waiting to see what happens then
  20. My main thinking on the matter, both Mandarins and BD don’t have anyone on their same tier to take and ###### some points from them. They literally have them slotted as a 6 point gap each time they’ve met. One would be silly not to think that the rest of the top 4 can’t ###### captions from BD and the same thing happens to Mandarins when meeting up with Cadets, Phantom, Cavies, Blue Stars, that whole tier that forms there as well. Along with the increased number of judges coming into the mix as well, no one’s really been scored to the finals week format yet. Edit: didn’t think I’d be censored by saying s-natch😂
  21. I’m going to feel the same not seeing SCV in my local Texas show. Usually it’s Denton, but every time I’ve gone, they’ve been there, it’s gonna be felt.
  22. I’m sure it’s been talked about before, is Gold planning on joining WC soon? For those that might more know about their situation
  23. Agreed. Corps are sometimes able to make these breaks feel less inorganic. Although, even then, there’s never universal agreement when discussing whether “the flow” of a show is or isn’t made more disjointed by these huge chunks of percussion features.
  24. My knowledge on what any of the corps in the bubble are doing is very minimal still, haven’t been able to sit down and see any of these groups enough, hopefully that changes later in the season! Very exciting to see so many corps in contention for that last spot!
