I hate to add the the insane hype (and flaming which is sure to follow), but, this person speaks the truth. I went to 2 shows where that featured The Academy and the Blue Knights (who are currently in 8th). I would say The Academy is right on par with BK. Disclaimer: I love ECJ and Spartans. Please don't hurt me.

I saw The Academy perform in San Diego and Walnut this past weekend. They just as good as the Blue Knights. Clearly better than Esperanza, Mandarins, and Pacific Crest. Musically, they are right there with BD and SCV in difficulty (the most double tounging I've ever heard in a show btw). They are LOUD. Lush. Balanced. Visually, they are just below Blue Knights in terms of difficulty. A few very difficult moves (Cavies 2000 ending! Amazing jazz running). They are a top 15 (dare I say 12?) Division 1 corps... in Div 2. These are only observations, but they are that good.

"Hey. Where did you get those clothes? At the... toilet... store?" lol

...course in German means a whale's... b**bs [Anchorman reference for those wondering] Finally all of California's Div 1 corps meet. Who's gonna be there?

Here's a prediction: The Blue Stars are not going to beat Pacific Crest, Mandarins, OR Esperanza. I know... they're the Blue Stars... we love 'em, but seriously. Give 'em a couple years.

Not quite for a living, but I am currently majoring in Graphic Design at Cal Poly Pomona. I have designed a few small websites and T-shirts for a local high school band. I'm also helping out with the brand new UCSD marching band next year, as drill designer. One of my goals is to someday be on a Div I design team... but that's looking waaay ahead. :P

That is a picture of their drum major, correct? If so, that doesn't mean the whole corps will be wearing it. I may be wrong though.

So I've created this thread for people to post their ideas in picture form. Here's something I came up with for Esperanza: (Inspired by the Blue Devils, Vanguard, Cavaliers, and Crown) For everyone wondering: The tracing and coloring of the orginal pencil sketch was done in Adobe Illustrator And here's the orginal sketch: Uniform Specs: - Black Pants - Black Shoes - "Esperanza Red" Jacket - Silver chain along left hip - Silver "Wrap-around" overlaying E-sash (official name. think i should trademark it? :P ) - White gauntlets - White gloves - White shako with silver brim, white plume The way I designed it, all the white/black elements can change to black/white and still look good. But I think the dark pants/light top combo looks best. Please feel free to share your designs
