Ok, OK... Gotta use my Max subscription (I think HBO?) to start my next binge viewing. I was about to go back & start Game of Thrones season 1. 😆

I thought their guard uniforms looked great but the horn line/drums just looked goofy with the shorts. So many designers have created some great apparel for the US Olympic teams & that's what they chose to use on the field? I think they could have used something else for the lower body that would still allow body movement & capture their visual intent. But that said, I loved their 2023 production utilizing the Cooper & Zimmerman source material. I even wore my favorite maroon Cadets hoodie this week at school. ✅

So what The Cadets need right now is a "Jim & Tammy Faye miracle? Unbelievable as I sit here shaking my head...

So did they announce the 2024 auditions & the 2024 tour suspension all on the same day? On Friday the 13th?

In our state, all educators, support personnel, & volunteers have to be finger printed with a background check. What doesn't make sense is how a school system will dismiss an employee, "pink-slipped" for what ever reason, but then give them a glowing recommendation to another school system. 🤷‍♂️

Reminds me of the status of citizenship for a child born on an international flight. I guess it can get pretty complicated. I would assume they use the established laws of the country of location at birth? But then sometimes I think too much... 🤷‍♂️

Those are the questions I have for both the DCI & SOA organizations. I'm sure they have liability protection through their insurance companies for these type of issues. I'm sure this will be litigated according to the state laws of Georgia & will probably lead to a settlement with their insurance provider. But what about the DCI component which is based in Indiana? It seems like there would need to be a filing in the State of Indiana? As public educators, we have, or should have, liability protection through our school system as well as personal protection provided via our professional educators association. (I know some states are different with some educators purchasing their own liability protection.) Another question: some events accorded in the state of Alabama & possibly other states. I'm sure they have secured a competent law firm, but it could get really complicated.

But DCI is the corps & the corps are DCI. 🤪 😆

In my opinion, it would probably behoove all named parties to 'maintain radio silence'. 👀

Y'all sounded great! Awesome brass & percussion both with strong books. Just need some great design & strengthen the guard? But the live performances that I got to see were intense. Y'all received a standing O at both prelims & semis! Have a great season & I'll see you in 2024! P.S. That's from a semi-retired band director with (2) former students that marched Madison as well as several of my college buddies.
