If you have any questions, please email me at street43@aol.com Walter Street Brass Caption Head Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps
  2. 93. I sat and listened to their victory concert in Mentor Ohio. My ears were still ringing 25 minutes later. My favorite BD show ever!
  3. I'm with you Frank. Marched 6 years(2005-2010)with Bucs ages 51-56. Marched 5 of those years with 2 screws in my Right big toe, and 4 with a total knee replacement(back jazz running 11 weeks after the operation). It was the mind set that let it happen.(and hitting the gym 5 days a week)!
  4. I also got to march with my daughter for the 08 championship. Although not for a championship, I also marched with my oldest son in Steel City and Westshore. My youngest son is now playing in Steel City Alumni with me.
  5. My son and I marched in championships together with Bucs in 05, 06, 07, 08, and 09. Marched with my now daughter-in-law the same 5 years.
  6. I AM one of very few (possibly 4) that have NEVER lost in my years as a Reading Buccaneer. My motivation comes from inside. Otherwise, I would have quit sometime during the 37 non-winning years that preceeded those 6!
  7. 1967-2004 Many corps, one Penn-York Championship, one Pa State Championship, Second Place in 1986 was my highest placement in DCA. 2005 Lead Mello Reading Buccaneers 2006 Lead Baritone Reading Buccaneers 2007 Lead Baritone Reading Buccaneers 2008 Lead Baritone Reading Buccaneers 2009 Lead Baritone Reading Buccaneers 2010 Lead Baritone Reading Buccaneers It has been a great run for me, no matter the year.
  8. There are 2 horn players, 1 drummer, and 3 guard members that have been with Reading since 05. Les than that have only been there since 05. Some were there beforehand, but not sure how many of us. I went to Bucs in '05, and after being in corps for the previos 37 years, these last six have been memorable to say the least.
  9. First year on the field..1968 Last year on the field...will let you know when
  10. Hope every thing gets straightened with the non-knee stuff so your wife gets back on her feet soon. I had a knee replaced two 1/2 years ago and have marched with the Bucs on it for the last 3 summers. Takes work, but I don't have the pain any more.
  11. I also travel 4 hours from Pittsburgh every weekend---uphill, both ways!
  12. I have been marching Drum corps since 1967 and have been with Bucs for the last 5 years. I have 2 screws in mt right big toe, and an Cobalt left knee. I spend 5-6 nights a week in the gym, lifting weights and doing cardio. If you want to survive Bucs drill(thanks Bobby), the most important is the cardio. The horn playing will come back by doing. It forces me to stay fit. My son and his fiancee both march at Bucs with me, and my daughter marched last summer, too. I'm 55. Walter Street
  13. It's a good thing you said Hero. I would hate to kick an old( sorry, older) man's butt!
  14. I started on valve/slide G/D, then G/F valve/rotor, then spent a bunch of years on G 2 valve. I have played 3 valve Bb since 2005.
  15. "What if" sums it up well. I remember my feelings when they came to the horn arc to say that the finals were canceled. I haven't felt that bad too often in my lifetime. After '86, this was another nail in the coffin.
  16. Jeff is right about the Cadets. They are in spring training in Johnstown, which is over 300 miles(one way) to pay for fuel and tolls. I drive to Reading every weekend from that area and it costs me $160.00 for one car. It would be tough to absorb all the extra cost that the fuel increase has brought on.
