  1. Thanks,Keith !......just wish I didn't have to......
  2. With the good byes said just a couple of days ago, I came home still in awe of the outpouring of Human Caring from Drum Corps and non-Drum Corps people alike! I have these pics that I found since the tragic loss of a Great Man, Father, Friend, Educator, Performer and Crusader Extraordinaire that I took over the course of rehearsals, winter and summer shows and even on the golf course at the Crusaders Golf Tournament in 07! LOL! I will miss his humor, smile and good nature and be it known that God has claimed one of the best for his kingdom above! May God keep Cheryl, Josh and Sara and the rest of the family in his arms for comfort..........go here to watch:
  3. Greece Cadets = greasy spoons Cadets of Greece = dyslexic malfunctions Many people always asked why the change.....well,true story..........when we appeared in the real world with our corps jackets, people of non-drum corps knowledge always thought we were from the country of Greece! I personally was visiting my sister's family in Hartford,Conn when an old man of Greek decent came up to me at the Jai-alai sports betting complex, where I was wearing my corps jacket, and started talking to me in his Greek native tongue and got perturbed when I wasn't able to speak to him! Another man came over to explain to me what the man was trying to say and I found it quite amusing! Just for those of you on here that don't know, Greece, NY is a suburb on the west side of Rochester that is the largest town in NY State with over 105000 people and 4 high schools! ......And to think it was nothing but farmland in the 50's! Yikes!
  4. I am so sorry to hear this! Sal during his time of championship days with the Crusaders were fabulous but he also made the time to work with the Greece Cadets in the late 60's. I was a 13 year old starting out and I remember nothing but a smile on his face as he taught a bunch of youngins who were gacking up some awful sounds as we learned how to play brass instruments! LOL! He never got mad and had always encouraging words for us back then. It made me work harder and fall in love with this activity we call Drum & Bugle Corps! Tom is right......Enough is enough!! May you Rest in Peace, Sal!
  5. Dear Les, It has been a Horrific Day and this news just adds to it! My deepest condolences on your loss and remember as a kid watching your brother just wail his cahunas off!!! at 10 years old, I looked up to Tommy and the rest of the guys from that year as superstars and got me hooked on this wonderful fraternity we call DRUM CORPS!!!!!! May he rest in peace and have a Hoot playing in God's Drum Corps!
  6. As I sit here, trying to type, I just wanted to say that we will post all details as soon as we know about honoring one of the best guys in this drum corps activity and generally the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel honored to call Rick my friend, and just in shock right now........it just plain sucks to lose such a great guy at this time.........may God keep him and cherish him as much as I and the entire Crusader Organization did!!!! Rest in Peace,my friend......
  7. Thru the years, it has been a pleasure to read Cozy's articles and columns for DCW!! Meeting him last year was such a GREAT time and colorful event at DCA I & E's, meeting one of Drum and Bugle Corp's ICONS!! On behalf of the Rochester Crusaders, we extend our heartfelt condolences to your family and many friends........ RIP, Cozy!
  8. Thanks so much, Jim! I appreciate the induction and look forward to seeing you this summer with a great program and a cold beer! Are u coming to the DCA rules congress? Its my wife's birthday but maybe we can hookup for lunch at StickyLips Barbque down the street....... With the economy going the way it is, I want to get to the business and non-profit seminars given that day!
  9. On Behalf of the Rochester Crusaders Family and personally knowing Curt through the years in Drum Corps in the Rochester area, our heartfelt condolences go out to the Andersons and the St. Josephs of Batavia Family.......... He was always the "gentle" man and friendly towards all! May God rest his soul and watch over all of you in this time of need......
  10. Thanks, Keith! Hope things are well in the land of warmth and sun! Just waiting my years before I get out of this nasty upstate weather! Look forward to seeing you on a trip up north this coming year!
  11. Thanks alot, my friend! It was a shock and honor to be in the company of you and inducted the same night as Crusader greats Frank "Frank's Fanfare" Michaels and Jimmy "Trapper" Lennon posthumously! May God Bless them and have a shining star waiting for us all! First rehearsal and open house was Fabulous with over 2 minutes of the show done with the Planets introduction of Mars and Jupiter and Moorside March.........Mr. Jim "Jimmer" Prime has outdone himself with the arrangements of these Holst compositions with the rich and melodic pieces flowing from a very upbeat Brass line and the percussion caption has some tasty new exercises too! If you want to have some fun and excitement of playing some great arrangements and marching with a GREAT Bunch of people, check out the website here
  12. Just got home from the banquet...(Yeah, I left early .....Because I got to get the truck out of hibernation at 7:30 am, not because I'm an old geezer...LOL! ) but had a RIOT and enjoyed seeing everyone who came! Great Food, Good DJ, great yearbook slideshow and video ( Produced by yours truly, and Good Times! Looking forward to hearing some good sounds tomorrow in East Rochester at the high school at 200 Woodbine Ave!!! Cya ya all there for a trip to MARS then off to JUPITER!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Less than 2 weeks away and the Keyboards are already delivered at our NEW rehearsal site, the East Rochester High School, 200 Woodbine Ave, EAST Rochester, NY!! See ya there and at the Banquet with some great media if I say so myself.....(Wait! I did just say it!!...LOL!)
  14. J, I started in drum corps in 1966 and have stayed connected to this sub-cultural style of life because of the uniqueness of situations like this!!!!!!! It Was TOO COOL to watch you guys drive all night and learn everything so quickly to be great assets to the "CRU" 2008 program and family! I hope you all get it together in Cinncy and look forward to seeing all of you at the Banquet and anytime after that!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip back to Rochester! I was the Show Chairman in 1985 of the "Flower City Open" in Rochester hosted by the Northmen Jr. D & B Corps (Firebirds and Cadets of Greece merger). I got a call that year as we were busy lining up a show that consisted of Garfield Cadets, 27th Lancers, Bayonne Bridgemen, Avante Garde, Les Eclipse, Les Chatelaines and others from Joe Guadagnino, who had informed me that there was this new Drum Corps from Bloomington Indiana that was trying to setup a tour because DCI wouldn't put them in their tour schedule rotation because they were not members yet!!! So....I said sure!!! The more the merrier and the fact I only needed to set our agreed upon price to bring them in than pay the DCI set scale was saving us almost 50% was a big plus!!!!!!!! When Star pulled in to the campus, the amount of cooperation and professionalism from every contact of member and staff was Outstanding to say the least!!!! They were Amazing!!!!!!!!!!! LOVED the Disney show! The buzz was amazing for the Star of Indiana and entertained the fans that year and for many more to come! It was alot of fun and head-scratching trying to figure out how the design team was going to best themselves the following year, but yet, they did even after winning the DCI Titles!!! I hope some day to see another Star rise from Indiana but in the Interim, Being entertained by any alumni, in any form is a huge plus for the Fans of Drum & Bugle corps!!!!!!!!!
  16. DDDDUUDDEEE! Actually oh friend of mine the "Footlifter Scene" on WGMC 90.1 FM in Greece allowed 2 hours every Sunday Morn and created alot of entertainment for folks on the way to rehearsals!! The time Ralph Silverbrand called in from the thruway was PRICELESS!!! in retrospect, it's the reason radio stations started using delays more frequently! Lots of FUN Playing DCA and DCI recordings up to that moment and supporting all the local area drum corps at the same time! Becomes a shame when money starts dictating what is programmed in non-profit radio.....
  17. Alas, oh soothsayer...............The reflections of the universe of PLANETS demands our attentions for 2009! The Celtic music is cool but only a small part of the universe in comparison! PS I was bummed not running into you Jimbo...........You might have to see us this weekend at the Clotheline Arts festival on sunday!!!! Lots of beautiful art with beverage for sale!!!
  18. It has been an Incredible summer tour seeing the relationship grow with Fusion Core and capped off by a special day of rehearsing together and enjoying the GREAT Steakout Dinner together!! Keep Rockin, Fusion Core and we will see you all next year!
  19. Allen, You Rock!!!!!!!!!!!! BIG Kudos go out to all local volunteers and staff! Great Job!
  20. Thanks, Keith! We had a BLAST This year and look forward to 2009! From the DCA receipient Award closest of residence to Paetec Park! Safe travels to everyone and see you next year!
  21. thanks for the chuckle first thing in the morn,Tom! you know what they say about the weather in Rochester.......if you don't like it,...give it a minute....it'll change!
  22. J, Just confirmed our parking the truck on Main St Bridge near the west side of the river for our folks in I & E and for the Perc section to meet and practice at 830. I will be running around attempting to video tape all I & E groups that the corps members are in unless we have 2 performing at the same times like last year...... ! I might be able to get a buddy with a cam to cover that though! Look forward to hooking up for a cold one!
  23. MMMMMMMMMMMM! A-!! The Best to have in a pinch! LOL!
