  1. Great report! Thanks!! Chili Cook-Off Aftermath: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6dm9rN6oTs
  2. A successful organization's staff is always teaching---right to the very last moment before the very first moment of the final performance of a season; or they aren't worth their salt.
  3. Heard through the grapevine there's the big annual chili cook-off being held at this camp!!! Sounds like fun!!! Found a video of the aftermath of one of the past annual chili cook-off events............ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ho2Eltc503I
  4. Nick Lane (and his team) have done a wonderful job at Oregon through the last several years, I'm proud to call him a friend, along with others on his staff. Nick is an alumnus of Pioneer and the Kilties. I think there may be a historical error in the above red highlighted area....if recall correctly WIAA is (and always has been) solely an athletic association and not marching bands, whereas MACBDA is the summer marching band program that maybe should had been referenced. MACBDA historically rarely ever averaged over 12 bands per season and still is a very vibrant association.
  5. Kanstul sops, mellos and baris----Kanstul and Dynasty Super Mag contras. http://kanstul.com/category.php?category_search=Bugle&metaPage=Bugle
  6. Okay, I can see the authorities retrieving the stolen road signs, no big deal; but the keg of beer too----that's unAmerican!!! Plus it had a deposit on it!! What the heII is this country coming to!!!
  7. From my understanding: **The Gael **500 Miles **Over the Rainbow **Original composition for closing tune.

  9. In drum corps it's called "by creative design".
  10. It's there now................... http://dcacorps.org/?page_id=3514
  11. The entire licensing, copywrite clearances, sync, etc. etc. goes back decades and decades; at least 30 plus years of attempting to control. Initially BMI, ASCAP, etc. were courted by legal and/or marketing firms that brought to light the possibility that publishing houses/artists should be compensated by the end users. They even had (and still do) teams of "goon squads" going around the country to restaurants, bars, skating rinks, professional office complexes, small businesses etc. etc.....(in short any entity that plays(ed) recorded music or had/have live music doing cover tunes) to try and muscle these businesses into paying rights (for playing the recorded tunes as simple background music or having live bands). If Capone was around................he'd be envious and would had quit bootlegging booze altogether and gone into the music licensing rights business. Bottom line, it's all about the $$$. If there's a buck to be made....someone will try to find a way. As a side-note---personal experience dealing with a "goon squad" on a non drum corps level about licensing rights, etc...........is the reason of sharing this info; no matter what the business.....it's a "shake-down". Sadly, a perceived legal shake-down. PS: I won.

  14. Members of any and all corps who do not make finals, pay for admission to finals if they plan to attend. Tickets are purchased by each organization for their respective members (performing, volunteers or otherwise).
  15. Young vrs youth is a play on words. Bottom line, if one is 18 years old or older---they are a legal adult.
  16. It's deer hunting season in Wisconsin, so all the men are out in the woods "gettin' a life"---and maybe a deer. While all the women folk are going to strip clubs and "gettin' a life" catching one of Wisconsin's "burnin' hunks of love" type acts............ http://www.freakingnews.com/pictures/64000/Fat-Strippers-on-a-Truck-64325.jpg
  17. One could surmise the age limitations have more to do about strategy; inasmuch C2 is part of Yea and Yea is a "youth" organization---thus going beyond a certain age may jeopardize the status and mission statement (as a whole) of Yea. as a non profit youth organization.
  18. The schedule is pretty typical for the corps; once a month winter/early spring camps, then select weekends in June-July-August with one full weekend off each one of those months; plus the Memorial Day weekend off for members to spend with family and friends.
