  2. ....not only DCA, but also DCA-C and DCI!!
  3. One of the strongest corps in Michigan was The Northernaires. In their history they bested every corps in Michigan and Wisconsin (except for one..Blue Stars), and won more Michigan (VFW/Legion) state championships than any other corps. The corps strongest years went up to "69", then things started hitting the corps (all male up to that time) like the draft, etc. Many, many fine organizations in Michigan.
  4. Hi Rob, The kilties.com is presently being updated/improved and it's a work in continuing progress (but still has full access, of course), while the kilties.org (membership information site) stays pretty much with the same interesting information for potential new/returning members to view. Bill
  5. I'm sorry, that'll never fly. Makes too much sense and too easy!! LOL
  6. I think it's generally appropriate, ####, one would have to sub-divide the site to un-navigable shreds if every sector had a discussion/announcment area. It seems to follow the same type guidelines set in the DCI/General area. Maybe DCA/(slash, not dash)All-Age/Alumni Discussions? Although, I think the alumni sector should have it's own discussion area, simply because it's becoming a fine and seperate enity of it's own.
  7. The Crown Plaza is really nice. The October DCA meeting was there, and it had a nice lounge for those that wish to socialize with some libations, plus the beds were like sleeping on clouds (once it stopped spinning) b**bs Nice place. Plus there's a nice little sandwich shop (Atlanta Bread Company I believe) down on the corner with some nice deli style sandwiches. Then there's a little Asian eating "take out" place with some good scarfin's just a couple doors from the sandwich shop.
  8. Kansas City is a suburb of Racine. Besides we have members coming from Texas and Arkansas (two other suburbs), they'll tie ya to the hood!! b**bs
  9. Good stuff!! b**bs On another note, Saturday evening dinner menu soon to be posted?? Mmmmmmmmmmm!!
  10. There were so many fine corps from Michigan (Upper and Lower)....and da nordern Wisconsin woods up dar toos. I remember Monk and Tommy used to come up to their cabin fishing, and stop by our corps rehearsals every year. Turned into great friends of many "up nort" folks, and we had many a pasta dinners together over the years. Great memories.
  11. Well, there's no reason you and your lovely bride have to go through this type of frustration. Tell the band director to drop all woodwind instruments, etc and go with nothing but valved brass. Duct tape down the 3rd valves on thr band brass instruments, and they will be in G. Or, mention to your bandmates and director you, and your bride, are required to play the G instruments, and the others had best start tranposing fast. Be cordial in your demand, and always wish them the best of luck. Or, just play the parts on your G instrument and complain how the other members are playing quite out of tune. b**bs
  12. .....and to the best of my knowledge, Lakeshoremen also.
  13. Right now we have 3 tenors slotted in the line and would like to perform with 4 (more have applied), we have 8 plates, the bass drum situation is at 6 with potentially going with 5, and the snareline is still unfolding with more players available than drums. A person has to be equally visually "in tune" (in all sections) along with being profient in their percussion, brass and/or guard skills. No one is denied membership if they come with the best intentions and emerge as a member in good standing. Some re-positioning may take place throughout the corps, but if you are accepted as a member, you're on the field!! NEXT KILTIE CAMP--FEB 18th-19th!!! b**bs
  14. Yes. We've had the DVD program for a couple years now. The DVD comes as a part of an overall packet sent to potential new Kilties.
  15. The Kilties annually have a DVD available to those interested in membership and send them out no charge as a part of a membership packet for those that apply for membership. On it are two sections, one formal introduction to The Kilties and another section showing informal times, downtime, family and friends, etc. we call the "Family Album". PRETTY COOL!!!
  16. Because it isn't in DCI's rules and charter.
  17. Legal adults do. Over 18, a person is considerd a legal adult. Able to vote, able to serve our country, etc.
  18. .......plus some potential guard visuals for the 2006 production already in place. Good stuff happenin' and fun time. Next Kamp: February 18th & 19th!! b**bs
  19. Okay, I just had the additonal priviledge of hearing even MORE of the 2006 70th Anniversay Production and WOW is not appropriate!! DOUBLE WOW!!!!!!!
  20. From The Kilties private message board: This month we are going with “comfort food”.
