I've said this many times before...... It's not the piece or the instrument - it's the PLAYER! also remember I'm "old school" and have played on many combinations of pieces and car bumpers (i.e. G Bugles) I believe this gentleman was asking for suggestions for a G bugle i.e. NOT a $4500 Willson 2950 4 valve compensating.... 90% of all great brass playing starts with the breath.... breath deep...the gathering gloom

  7. My buddy Chuck Naffier (Colt Alumni) arranged this piece for the Crossmen... looks like a nice show for the evil Renegades. One more time Chuck Corea...nice chart...got to play this in 1981
  8. my how drum and brass corps have changed... The running/breathing block is nothing new... The Blue Devils originated the block in 1980/1981... yes - it does improve your breath capacity and physical stamina we also used it to intimidate many corps - and yes it worked.... Blue Devils always had very powerful horn lines - and this was one of the reasons

Rochester next year for sure...and Redwood will be "in the house". Maybe we can get Tony Pon and Jim Nordin out next year also...pb I wanted to say thanks to Gonzo Cozy for being a great dude to all corps people over the years. Cozy, Mike Boo, and Steve Vickers are the best at keeping the entire drum corps community informed! Thanks to Stuart for photos of the Renegades on the website! My biggest disappointment is that I didn't get to see my bud Tony Signorelli back in action this weekend!
  13. "no surprises, rain, rain, rain, ad nauseum." Ernesto's wrath... or maybe Lothar blowing off a little steam... Good to CU in Madison... we should have talked more. That was Ralph "Redwood" "Mr. Blue Star" Marsh sitting next to me. The main reason I was in Madison was to see my daughter Kayla perform and the Scouts Alumni. Hope to see you again soon...Mr. Gonzo Cozy Chops....pb p.s. glad to see Pat Buzzard win the baritone I & E - wondering why Sarah Houle didn't win - she's a monster in case you didn't know... maybe Dave Landers and I will come out of retirement some day...LOL If Dave Lang ever joins a senior drum corps we are all in for a treat... 14. BTW, Whitewater was exactly 2 weeks prior to Montreal and not one month as was previously mentioned in this thread. That is correct from my memory. I have this disc at home. It's a good watch and brings back many great memories. CU on the 50...pb

  19. Thanks for the kind words. It makes the drive from Denver, Colorado to Oswego, Illinois well worth it. p.s. Terri - it was all a dream, wasn't it? I made it back home in one piece. Next week Woodstock and thank god I am flying for this one.
  20. Anyone remember the 1976 Colt. 45 color guard and rifle line? very talented...along with the Kilts, Guardsmen, and Regiment. Also....from the east coast..Quasar, St. Anthonys, and Holly Hawks.... Here's a real old one for ya....The Weber Guardsmen...very good rifle line.
  21. The Regiment can thank Dan Farrell for over the years he has inspired this horn line.
  22. Sorry I missed it - I was warming up with Royal Airs and doing I & E so... I probably bragged too much anyway - sounds like some loud notes were heard though....
  23. Thanks Terri (sometimes it helps to read the entire thread beforehand) LOL Andy (great kid and good drum corps genes) - great review of the entire weekend - you have done your parents and the entire drum corps community proud - keep up the good work!!
