DCI Bernstein Bonanza 2009
gbass598 replied to Rudy Wiedoeft's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I was always led to believe it was Crown’s mashup of Somewhere with Somewhere over the Rainbow that was the straw that broke the camels’s back. Too bad because it was genius. they seem ok with simply doing a song but using anything in a medley is a no-go. -

I’m really convinced people just come here to complain because they don’t hear the answers they want to hear. No matter what SCV says or doesn’t say people start flinging #### lol over this forum because it’s not what they want to hear. -
Dance Company vs Color Guard
gbass598 replied to oldbandguy's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
FWIW, Vandegrift used flags in part of their show and if you hadn't told me I would have never known the difference. They also got the highest regional score ever in BOA so this just seems like natural evolution of the activity like grounding the front ensemble and Star '93. -
I thought it was pretty well known after the season ended he was not returning. Also, https://www.crossmen.org/program-staff/tim-mikan

84 SCV perc feature question
gbass598 replied to 84BDsop's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
For all the people who complain drum corps ain't what it used to be, that sure was a lot of "dancing" during that show for 1984. Great musicianship back then too. -

I think it's a pretty safe bet that Tim Fairbanks is no longer writing their drill.

Vintage DCI at 2023 BOA Grand Nationals
gbass598 replied to Quad Aces's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
In any event, the bands are paying more for the designers than they are props. It’s all part of the presentation for entertainment value. Nobody is watching a stage show on broadway without a set. -

Mason had panels across the entire front of the field that people and guard equipment hid behind during the entire show. That is a prop to me. Everyone had a "prop" of some sort. It doesn't matter to me. They are all fantastic performers. -
What Happened to Capital Regiment?

that makes it even more interesting then since I'd like to know where they are getting their funding to get any organization off the ground. -
What Happened to Capital Regiment?
gbass598 replied to btracht's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
An interesting question and also another group located in Columbus that doesn't recruit well. I know Capital Regiment has still continued their bingo operations since the corps stopped so there should be no debt and some financial basis to get started. I understand there is completely new leadership but I don't know who. I have no idea how the Saints raise funds but it appears they don't have much. -

Interesting. I live in Columbus and see zero mention of them anywhere around town. They started a facebook page for the winds group but then never added any followup content. If that have any intention on going the drum corps route, which I feel is a bad idea right now if they think they are going to field in 2024, they'd better get some recruiting going. -

Not sure what post you are referring to but they are trying to get a WGI indoor winds group off the ground. However, it's sort of late to be starting the group for this coming season so I don't know what is going on. -
It's funny how anytime someone leaves a job on this site the automatic assumption is they were fired or "told to resign" It is possible for people to decide to leave positions on their own.

Expect most of the core design staff to still be there. -
Is that the difference between "Rumors" and "Rumours"

Consultant is a "loose" term because I don't think either of them spent much time or effort and no time on tour that I'm aware of.

New turf to be installed at Lucas Oil July 2024

Hard to say. Finals week this year was week 1 of preseason games. The Colts played in Buffalo on August 12. -
I'm not sure I understand what is and is not a catch in the NFL anymore. And for the record, Logan Wilson was not holding Cooper Kupp in the Super Bowl 2 years ago. That call very well might have cost the Bengals the Super Bowl.

https://operations.nfl.com/officiating/the-officials/2023-roster-of-nfl-officials/ And to clarify, you get their names and not a detailed bio of every league they officiated or played before now that qualifies them to do their job at the NFL level.
