  1. No Kyle, they did try to say that they found some white powder left in some rooms and I'm sure they did. They did not turn it into the police and they did not have it tested. I will tell you that the Ca. folks were not use to the humidity and after the first day of rehearsal, most of the corps went out and bought some powder for chaffing. I have never done anything like coke but I have known a few people over the years that have and they just don't leave any extra laying around. They get every bit out of it they can. One room smelled like pot and they couldn't rent it out for a few days. I know I sign things when I check into a non smoking hotel that says I will be fined and charged for any damages if I smoke in my room. Whoever was in that room should have been charged and that should have been the end of it. I have read the rumors over the last year of rape, under age sex, orgies and whatever else you guys came up with. The fact of the matter is the Renegades smoked some pot. Just about every corps should be kicked out.
  2. Ok folks, I'm going to let you all know how big of a party it was. There were a couple of noise complaints because of doors shutting being too loud and there was some pot smoked in a couple of rooms.
  3. They sound great but It's a High School not a middle school
  4. under the topic it says 10 am and one post on here says noon? I would hate for someone to show up 2 hours early
  5. I think it's a wash. 50% of the drum corps back when I marched 20 years ago have folded.
  6. Well the Blue Devils have auditions in Alabama, Texas and So. Cal so I am not sure why it is a big deal that the Bluecoats are doing it as well.
  7. Who is teaching the drum line this year? I keep looking on the web site and I can't find it anywhere.
  8. Sounds like it's going to be a great line. I know there is alot of drum corps people doing it. Have fun guys and I can't wait to see you.
  9. It's all about the money. I believe Dynasty stopped giving them 100% free stuff so they decided to go somewhere else with a better deal. It's like the Vic Firth deal. Promark is not only giving them free stuff but I believe they are paying them to use their probuct as well.
  10. OK, let me just start our by saying I am not slamming anyone I just have a couple of questions. I have been out of the loop for a little while. What are the roles of a caption consultant, supervisor and head. Which one of these guys has the final say? And Madison has put together a All Star staff for sure but when is the last time these guys designed a top show? Like I said, not trying to be a jerk, I just don't know the last thing these guys have done. I know there is a lot of Star and blast people but what top drum corps shows have they desinged in the last few years?
  11. I think the excitement is about a Corps coming out to Ca. The Renegades have no clue how they stack up to the rest of the Country until prelims. This will be a very fun trip for Empire, I know it's a great time for the Renegades every time they go East. You are correct, no Corps should do this if it will put them in financial trouble but if they can swing it, what a great time they will have.
  12. Well with our big parking lot we can paint three fields and have each section have their own field. As a drum guy I can tell you how nice it is to have our own field to clean the things we need to work on without having to deal with any of the other sections. I would much rather have a grass field but I will take three parking lot fields anyday.
  13. Some of you crack me up, you guys will ##### about anything. You must be a real peach to be around. Here is a company letting anyone who doesn't want to pack up a drum set and ship it to Rochester the chance to use a great drum set and all you do is complain. Believe it or not, not every corps is from the East Coast and can just put it in a van and drive a couple of hours. Why don't you just say Thank You. If you don't want to use it THEN DON'T!
  14. I'm pretty sure it will be another Jim out there and who knows, maybe a little Jeff up front.
  15. In the context of who designs the shows................. Like the Music, visual and overall package.
  16. Well it's a 30 second spot. Every two seconds when the shot changes you would change the music? That would sound great. Or would you just put one Corps playing in the background? I bet you wouldn't have much complaining over that lol God help Lee if he didn't pick(your) the right corps. Great job Lee and thanks!
  17. Well I don't think the talent is better today, the shows are just a ton more demanding. You take the kids fron the 70's and 80's and give them the shows you are doing now, with the same rehearsal time and the same knowledge from the staff, you would have the same result. There are some great snare drummers out there right now but guys like Scott Johnson, Tom Float, Rob Carson and Ralph Hardimon were not too bad either. Look at Garfield in 1984, that was a very modern drum corps show by todays standards and they played and marched the hell out of it when nobody was doing anything like that.
  18. Not that what I think matters but I liked the way we use to do it. Remember when the top 12 from the previous year did not have to perform in prelims or quarter finals. This would be my ideal situation. 1. OC finals would be on Wednesday 2. The top 12 oc corps go against the 10 non finalist corps from last year for quarter finals 3. Those top 13 go on against the top 12 from the previous year for semi finals and you now have a top 25 again I am sure you would lose some of the crowd on Thursday that wants to see the big boys but you will have friends and families from 12 more corps. No matter what your placing is, you don't get a vote unless you are a world class corps. But if the oc and wc corps are happy with what they have, enjoy. It just seems like a much bigger arena for these kids to perform.
  19. Well Jason, my life doesn't revolve around drum corps. I don't know how many corps you have taught but I'm sorry you don't keep snare drummers in the wings that know the show and are ready to step in when someone quits a week before the first show. So I don't plan on things happening like this. I have been involved in drum corps since 1987 and with the exception of a snare drummer quitting a week before finals in 89 with the corps that you marched with, this has never happened to me so late in the season. As far as my attitude goes, you have no ####### idea what you are talking about. I am talking about a DCA corps and there is no tour. Another staff member and myself were covering his member dues and when he told me a month ago that he still could not afford a plane ticket, I got him a job. I did everything I could for this 20 year old kid and he still quit.I do everything I can to help anyone out and make sure it is fun for them It's no like he was a rookie and had no idea what he was getting into, he was a vet. And you are correct, there are many other things more important than drum corps and it is not for everyone. If thst is the case they should stay away and enjoy life. I'm sorry you didn't know what you know now. I guess drum corps ####ed up your life. Last I heard you were doing really well in life, I guess I was wrong. That #### nasty life destroying drum corps.
  20. Sorry, I have never understood. I just had a snare drummer quit a week before the first show because he decided he couldn't afford the summer. I had cut many snares who really wanted to do this so this kid could have a spot. Everyone knows how much time and money it takes and yet someone always seems to quit at the last minute. I'm sure there are some really good reasons but most of them are bull. It's just the way kids are raised today. Many will say life is more important than drum corps and it is so just stay away from it unless you are prepared to finish the season. It's not about me in drum corps, it is about the corps. Now you take time away from cleaning the corps to teach a new person your spot. I would suggest if you want to march next year you go somewhere else. I know I will never take the snare drummer back.
