  1. I'm not saying a thing about PRK's upset of Mystré (what's the code for that letter?) But looks as though the MAPS corps are hungry this season. Maybe Shinji's uprising will be a very good thing.... now we need our other guardies to match up. *Sees 'Asuka' almost strangling 'Shinji' and runs to hold her off*
  2. Umm... whoever stated that there needs to be a kevlar head that delivers the sound modern corps crave while keeping soft on the hands? There are actually many heads on the market from Remo and Evans that do that. Most specifically, the Remo White and Black Max are weaved entirely different than the well-known Falam II head by Remo. I beleve Evans makes the MX5? snare head (correct me if I'm wrong) that does the exact same thing. I actually like the Max heads, and I prefer to have that batter head on my personal snare drum. Back to the topic (somewhat, I'm hitting DCI's area with this one): Some drum traditions seem they would last forever. Cadets' classic endings to their solos throughout the late 90's and the 2000 season (THAT was sweet, btw), SCV's tilt and being under Gusseck/Cassella, The Cavies' "zen" way of drumming with just enough to be a nice book, but also light enough to be musical. However, as we have seen in the past... oh I dunno.... 5-ish years? Those traditions have gone to the wayside. It's all about change, people and lines keep improving and wanting more demand. The fans eat it up, try to impersonate the famous warmups (BD Ditty, SCV's Flammus, Electric Wheelchair, etc.) and the arrangers give them more until they have finally written that one book that everone holds the standard to that corps' line for YEARS to come (Thurston's Groovus Maximus with Crossmen is an EXCELLENT example). Only when that happens does a tradition become overshadowed and that is when a new tradition becomes warranted. Now in DCA, I cannot say that I have heard many DCA lines, I have heard a few. However, I know that some traditions that an arranger may have had when they were with a DCI corps or a past DCA corps may be transferred to that current corps. All about the adjustments needed. Well, this ends my imput on Line traditions.
  3. Some very respectable showings from MAPS this opening day. Caboose should be out in a few days. Stake Drivers, 2nd place and high GE while getting stomped in the other captions... well, nothing to be worried about right now. PRK finishing 4th, Engineers 3rd all at their respective shows.
  4. Eh, the MAPS corps have always been under the radar. Things will be fine when the season really gets under way. PRK and Engineers both want a spot in Charlotte on Saturday Night and he|| hath no fury than that of the Nation's River or a Train Builder.
  5. Good thing my corps' clones were perfectly configured. Although, that launcher was not that impressive... where's that mecha I've seen....? PRK is ready to rumble in DCP-I
  6. *watches lead mellophone being pegged with Jolly Ranchers* Well... looks like my percussion is ticked off... they just left the track, picked up some rock candy and decided to use their sticks as launchers toward Mystre. OH! Contra down! Contra Down! *See's guard looking too friendly once again and runs to stop the impending sensual mayhem*
  7. Ugh... MAPS percussion section have gotten so board, they're slapping on the hogs and heading for the track to have a mini-drum battle and see who the crowd prefers of the organization. Meanwhile, the Brass had decided to play a mass game of "Tag" and the guard is well... trying to attract other corps members. *Runs to stop the color guard from being too friendly*
  8. Dang... no love for MAPS.... oh well.... ^0^ ^0^
  9. You'll have my other 3 on monday. I've been swamped at work and I have off tomorrow.
  10. PRK's ready for this little inconvenience... Not to mention the other MAPS ensembles are mad about the dismal placements last year and will be back to be the cocky boys from the East that they have and always will be.
  11. PRK, The Engineers, and The Stake Drivers will debut their shows there. Caboose won't debut until a few weeks into the season.
  12. Most corps are going with Stick taping job "B" to have the natural feel of the stick in the fulcrum. Some go with A and some with C. I know that Pioneer didn't have a set stick taping look a few years ago. Some of the snares had the look of stick "B" and some had the look of Stick C. Not trying to bash them, but it just irks me (look in the 2004 Program book, look at Pioneer's picture, it has three snareline members and the sticks are not in uniform. I usually prefer Stick taping job A for the complete uniform look and also it doesn't screw up the remaining tape job. Note: A is on the left, B is the middle and C is the right.
  13. I vote wholeheartedly yes to this. Less shows does give more contest in each show.
  14. Brunswick High School... is the mascot a train? If so, then its too much a coincidence of the BHS in MD and in OH being the same colors and mascot....
  15. *PRESS RELEASE TO ALL DCP-I DIRECTORS, FANS, ETC:* The Mid Atlantic Performance Series has been grinding out their schedule plans and figuring out the repretoire for Caboose. Mr. Scott Smith, corps/organization director, has this to say, "The staff at Caboose has been thinking of many show ideas ad we will announce that shortly. Also, The Potomac River Knights have decided to drop a few songs from their current show, "Evangelion". We will announce them when we announce Caboose's show." Here are the new show announcements: The Potomac River Knights are proud to present, "A Boy to A Savior: EVANGELION!" Songs are: "Cruel Angel's Thesis", "The Ascention" by Robet W. Smith, "Canon In D" by Johann Pachelbel, "Salvation is Created", and "Ascention Reprise" Caboose is happy to present: "Heat of the Night". Songs are: "Aztec Fire", "Hot, Hot, Hot!", "Summer's Breeze", and "Summer In the City"
  16. Umm... I think you got the time differential mismatched. That would be 11:00 am EST/ 8:00 PST. Now, if it was 8:00 EST, then the West Coast will not like being up at 5:00 PST.
  17. I agree on their "Fly me to the Moon" being more meant for elevator Music. HOWEVER, the show does have some cool musical entities that would be awesome. Especially the song when they show snippets of the next episode (I think Angel Attack?). Anyway, if they are looking at Anime show ideas. I'd whole heartedly recommend two animes. One being "Fullmetal Alchemist" (Come on, "Ready, Steady, Go!" is dying to be used by a corps) and the other being (shameless little given opinion) "InuYasha" (Their ballads are very well written and would make for some nice interludes between the fighting songs). Anyway, whatever Sky picks will have it's share of fanatics, it's share of "eh" fans (Some who like the concept and music, but don't go ga-ga over it) and probably some that may hate the concept all together. Good luck you guys. See you in the future!
  18. I've been having trouble with creating my own icon for my corps... help?
  19. *PRESS RELEASE TO ALL DCP-I FANS* The Mid Atlantic Performance Series have announced three of the shows for the 2006-07 DCP-i Off Season. Caboose has not received a show yet due to the current rules congress. Scott Smith, Corps' Director, had this to say in an e-mail from the DCP-i meetings, which he just arrived and voted at. "These shows have been racking my mind for the past few months since the most recent "Live" season in DCP-i came to a close. As you will see we kept PRK's signature Anime style alive and have found an identity that The Engineers can build off of. I am a little concerned with The Stake Driver's show and am also concerned with both Caboose's and The Railroad Workers' competition hopes due to a possible rule change at these events. The Potomac River Knights are proud to present: "Evangelion". Repretoire: "Cruel Angel's Thesis", "In The Flat", "Canon in D" by Johan Pachelbel, "Angel Attack", "Fly Me To The Moon" by Frank Sinatra. The Engineers are pleased to present: "The Heartland Beats With Love". Repretoire: "You Had Me From Hello" by Kenny Chesney, "To Be Your Man" by Josh Turner, "Stay With Me" by Josh Gracin, "The Good Stuff" by Kenny Chesney. The Stake Drivers are proud to present: "Classics Die Hard". Repretoire: "Just My Imagination" by The Temptations, "Respect" by Aretha Franklin, "Proud Mary" by Credence Clearwater Revival, "American Pie". Caboose is happy to present: To Be Determined (subject to outcome of DCP-i rules congress) The Railroad Workers are proud to present: To Be Determined, if DCP-A is reformed.
  20. MAPS- No This is a direct chop off of my past proposal for "Dynasty Opportunities" This just doesn't work now that I've thought about it more.
  21. MAPS- Abstain I can understand a "Regional Rivalry" but then again, to see how one really does compare with the rest of the nation is also cool. I'm impartial to this one.
  22. MAPS- Abstain I can understand, yet it can get confusing... just give an extra tenth or something to the first corps in... PROBLEM SOLVED!
