  1. ugh... I have to wait 'til July 25th to see a show. (Pittsburg, KS) I thought that would be okay because I get to see my home team, and BD (my favorite corps other than my home team... I like blue... ok?) I'm interested to see the scouts to see what the reaction is. Point being, I'm really upset I won't see Crown this year... I've always respected that corps, and I can remember a staff member at Bluecoats telling me that "someday when we are setting ourselves up to win a championship, we will be competing hard with them *points at crown in the parking lot*" He was definately right. From all the hype I might have to go out of my way to see their show.
  2. Jason, what's up man? We need to talk sometime! I'm a bluecoats homer which is fine you can "accuse" me all you want, and I'll "plead guilty." But being a homer also means I talk to members and staff of the current corps, and have had three years of experience within to corps to know how it operates. You could even say that as far as I'm concerned with the Bluecoats, I can provide an "expert testimony" The staff at the corps knows what they're doing. "Examine" the past and you'll see "evidence" of where this corps is going. If they didn't you wouldn't seem the corps climb the way they have in the last 7 years. I've mentioned before on these forums that when I marched with the Bluecoats I was never in the same placement in semi-finals, as I was in finals (we were tied for 5th w/ Madison in '05 during semi finals), I can "testify" that this is because of a smart and hard working staff, who knows how to peak at the right time. In this year's case there's also a lot of surprises yet to come... they'll be cool... they should help the show... as far as those are concerned I'll "plead the fifth" and let you "witness" those for yourselves. Does this mean they'll win a championship? Absolutely not. They could, but they could still take 6th or 7th, but honestly so could any of the top 7 corps right now. As far as placement's concerned the "Jury's still out." As far as gas is concerned, I will guarantee they will have a stellar show by finals, that will compete with any corps in the top 7. We'll see how the rest of the season goes. The Fourth of July usually provides a break in the competition and as far as tonight is concerned there is "no contest". I have a feeling the Bluecoats will have something to say when it comes down to their "closing arguments" Did I mention I love the theme of this year's show?
  3. I'd have to agree that I'm not convinced, but they've had a fairly long streak on top. I would say as of now they are. It doesn't mean that Blue, Phantom, Cavies... whomever can't overtake them though.
  4. I'm pretty sure that the Bluecoats have not really been known to "peak" especially not in the last few years. Particularly on finals week. For the last 3 years they have not been in the same place in semis as they were on finals (with the exception of '05, but they were tied with Madison for 5th) Top 6 newbie? They've been in the top 6 for 3 (almost 4 years now)
  5. Man, all I can say is I'm really proud GO BLUE!
  6. I was really hoping there would be a drill move when they shave a toothbrush into a shank
  7. Bluecoats' guard took first at Kalamazoo last night
  8. The Bluecoats won't have a contest for a few more days, b/c they're rehersing in Normal, IL. I bet there'll be a lot of pics up from that show. ...until Normal I guess they're pleading "no lo contendre" ...I kill myself
  9. When I marched Bluecoats in '04 we literally had 18 people march in the contra line by finals... due mainly to injuries (even though I think one was a family issue). Corps usually see a lot of overuse injuries. I know pulled groins were the main ones that would keep people out. I think as alto92 mentioned they received a prorated tour fee. The best way to find an opening is A) Audition for a corps in November, if you're good but don't make the cut in the winter, you might get a call in June. B) Go to a show, it's not often you see a sign at a souvie booth asking to fill a hole. C) talk to your friends that are marching, even if there's not an opening in their corps, rumors travel pretty quick. D) keep your eyes peeled on Corps websites and places such as DCP
  10. I mean really it's a pointless thread (I can say that cause I posted it) it was just one of those only for tonight type deals. There may be more to come. Again, it's too early to tell. I was surprised that 'coats almost upset the Cavies last night and then there was this much of a spread tonight. But Bluecoats beat Phantom at this same show last year, so it's hard to say where things will be in the end. Good luck to both corps. I know I can't wait to see them both.
  11. Oh no way is there any bias from "PHANTOMcrown"
  12. Even without bias, the book the coats line is playing is insane they beat PR hands down
  13. No, because the poll is just about tonight... we'll worry about finals when we get there
  14. I also want to say that Bruckner sucks, and anyone who likes him should not teach contra lines (jk) It's funny how you can see who's reading what page on this forum
  15. ...man you're really going out on a limb there I'll make two predictions myself 1.) The Bluecoats wear blue 2.) Phantom plays classical music Bold statements I know!
  16. As of right now it's 33/33 I'm actually kind of surprised Phantom isn't running away with it, seeing as how they have such a large fan base on this forum.
  17. I will also admit to tremendous personal bias when I cast my vote
  18. Both corps seem to be doing very well, very early in the season. Tonight's the first night they meet up. Blue scored about a point higher last night, but they weren't at the same show. Phantom's weighted score according to DCP is currently higher than the Bluecoats. Should be an interesting match up tonight.
  19. First off, being from Missouri Columbia is NOT Kansas City. Chances are you're more apt to go through Springfield or St. Louis before KC when on tour going to Columbia. Columbia's in the middle of the state and there's a lot of nothing between KC and Columbia. Also, one of the coolest towns I was ever in on tour was (I think) Charlotte, where Carolina Crown had a homeshow of sorts last year. The stadium and the surrounding areas was really nice, and you could see the skyline from the field. The warmup area was in a really nice park, and there were a few restaurants/bars within walking distance. I really enjoyed the time I spent there. Definitely a good drum corps memory.
  20. It's amazing to see what a great year it's shaping up to be on a competitive level. Just looking at this thread you can tell there's some intense competition already, and some of the "tiers" that corps get placed in, at least to this date have been thrown out... at least in the top 7 or so. With an obvious bias toward my corps, the Bluecoats; it's funny to see that some people have them ranked in the top 3, some as low as 7th. Needless to say with the activity at the level that it is now, even the show that comes in 7th will be the best 7th place finish in DCI history. ...what a season this is shaping up to be.
  21. Looks like someone waved their right to remain silent....
