  1. No - this has nothing to do with either DLB or SS. I don't know of any "talk (forums)" they have, _kid. Nothing to do with any other website. No free t-shirts - or mousepads .... or hats. Even in the absence of free swag ... I predict you're going to like this. A LOT. Look for more information in the next few days. I think its going to be pretty exciting. -john
  2. My personal thanks to Matt for his dedication to the DCPI circuit and community. There is a great deal of work that goes on behind the scenes to make this all work ... and Matt (and Jeff Hinton before him) undertook the tasks, on their own largely, and kept things running smoothly. I look forward to working with Kevin to continue the smooth operation of the circuit and (hopefully) watching it grow. Thank you in-advance for your patience while we work thru the transition. Thank you for your continued support. -john
  3. Dropbox is another great respository for photos and other files. It is easy to use, provides 2Gb of storage, integrates with your desktop (Windoze and Mac) and mobile devices (iOS, Android, etc), and best of all - is FREE (for the first 2Gb). Simply place your images in a Dropbox folder, let it sync with the server .... and you're ready to share the images. Right (or Ctrl)-click on the image file in the folder you'd like to share and should see a menu pop-up with a list of things you can do with the file. If Dropbox has been installed on your computer, you should have an option for "Share Dropbox Link" Click on the link and you should have the link to the image stored in your local Clipboard. Open the Forum Post Editor you'd like to insert the image in and click on the IMAGE icon in the tool bar. A window will open, where you will PASTE (Ctrl-V) the URL Dropbox copied into your local Clipboard. DROPBOX-specific Additional Instructions At the very end of the URL address, you'll want to remove the "?dl=0" and replace it with "?raw=1" With that change made, press the "OK" button and your image will be included in the Forum Post. NOTE: BE SURE TO SAVE THE POST ("Add Reply") ... otherwise all of your hard work will be lost. I hope this helps and makes posting/embedding images easier for you. -john
  4. Pacific Crest have just announced that they will be hosting their Corps at the Crest - Los Angeles show at the storied Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena this summer. Get all of the details here See you there! -john
  5. The issue was brought to my attention last night and was resolved shortly thereafter. Thanks for your patience!
  6. Is it the last page of the thread .... or the page with the last post you read in that thread? Also - are you logged-in or viewing as a 'guest' at the time? -john
  7. A bit of research via Google and its pretty clear that this is the result of a malicious banner advert delivered by Google Adsense, with LOTS of sites impacted. No one has reported any 'malware' being delivered ... only a pop-up or redirection to another site.
  8. I'm moving this and merging with a similar thread in the Member Service Forum.
  9. I'm wondering if it could be related to adverts delivered by Google Adsense. We use Adsense to deliver some banner ads on the site - as does the USCHO.com site. While that would be a significant breech of the Adsense model, it would certainly explain the randomness of its occurrence, our inability to find an issue in our systems, and the fact that its showing up on multiple sites. Just a thought.
  10. To clarify ... I'd like to get a copy of the delivered PAGE SOURCE code for the DCP Forums page that is exhibiting this behavior.
  11. I have not been able to duplicate the problem, so am unable to do any real troubleshooting. As noted in the thread in the Support Forum (where these things need to go), I've reviewed the forum code and data ... and cannot find a reference to the reported URL. It would be helpful if someone would send me the HTML (Right-click, View Source, then Save to File) for an afflicted page, so I can have a look. Send the saved HTML to support-at-drumcorpsplanet.com. Thanks! -john
  12. That's very strange. I've just had a quick look at the rendered source and don't see any reference to that site. A quick inspection of the forum software does not indicate any changes or evidence of code that would cause that redirection. I have not experienced, nor have heard any other reports, of this behavior. A thorough virus scan of your computer may reveal some nasties lurking. I'll watch this thread for any other reports. -john
  13. Believe it. I was there - along with Kevin, Danielle, Fran Haring, Glenn Johnson, Fred Windish, Gil Silva, and however many could hunker-down in the lean-to shed that doubled for a 'press box'. NO ONE was dry that evening.
  14. The Friends program appears to be much less of a philanthropic donor program than a 'gain access to better seats' program. There is no evidence of donor development, donor stewardship, or new donor acquisition. Most philanthropic programs that I've seen build on a 'pyramid' of donors that advance up the scale - whereas this chart clearly shows that this is not the case for the DCI Friends program. For the last several years, the largest number of "donors" are in the category that provides the initial level of "complimentary" tickets to championships. It would be interesting to see what the actual value of these "donations" are, once the value of the associated benefits (e.g., tickets, Fan Network, etc) are removed. I'm wondering if DCI has a specific strategy to build a philanthropic donor base - or if they're satisfied with simply providing a 'premium ticket club'. For those that are members of the Friends program - do you consider yourselves "charitable donors" ... or do you consider your Friends membership as simply a way to get better tickets to championships?
  15. Congratulations to all of the Open Class corps that participated this season. A special BRAVO!! to the Blue Devils B Corps for their Championship.
  16. I'd like to chime in with kudos for the Fan Network team. I watched both nights of the Allentown without a single sputter or incident. Video image quality was great and audio was as-expected for a locally produced show (IOW: Tom Blair didn't roll-up in a multi-million dollar trailer). My setup was very simple - Apple iPad streaming via AirPlay to AppleTV - then HDMI into 7.1 receiver and large screen TV. GREAT JOB, FN team!
  17. Fixed that. IPB Obscure Feature Limitation #9,395,738
  18. I believe that as-well ... which is why I put the combined recap together. The disclaimer was for those pickers of nit and sayers of nay.
  19. I'm a bit of a numbers guy - so I created a merged recap for the two Allentown shows. You'll find it on the DCP Scores/Stats page ... just look for the Allentown Combin(ed) link on August 2nd. Yes - I *know* they were different nights with different show dynamics ... but they did share the same judging panels on adjacent evenings. I know people are doing the comparisons, so thought I'd just help make it easier to see in a single page. Enjoy, -john
  20. Recap shows that BD had a 96.825 ... NOT a 96.775 as posted and reported by the announcer.
  21. Funny you mention this. BITD, we had an online store that featured a number of DCP-branded items (hats, coffee mugs, T-Shirts, polos, etc) for sale. Sadly, DCP'ers weren't too keen on purchasing these things - so it is all now just a memory. What little inventory I had has gone to 'the museum' and is (VERY) occasionally donated as a door prize. One of the products I was happiest with was what we called the "DCP EarAmps™". I've managed to dig up the product description from the old store database: You can imagine my surprise when Mike New and I sat down at DCI Championships in Bloomington, IN back in 2008 to find the gentleman below seated right in front of me. It made my day. No - they're no longer available for sale. Sorry.
