  1. on a side note, on funny outcome is in the Bluecoats performance there's a part the bad audio makes them sound like Kazoos :tongue:/>

Some Random Thoughts One of the things that seems to create some havoc and boredom to the audience is the set up time of the pit between corps, one way to shorten that could be to standardize the pit and set it up once at the start and let all the corps use the same equipment. Would also get rid of that cluster *&$( of 2 corps trying to set up and tear down on the front sideline Another thing that is time consuming is having up to 1/2 hour before scores are read. DCI has to find a way to either have scores faster or have some end of event entertainment, that would start as soon as the last corps exits. Having a 1/2- 45 min intermission for a 5-6 corps event. Look at how many audience members leave at the last note and don't stay for the scores/encore because they don't want to wait for a 1/2 hour for 1 minute of score announcement. On final "it's time to" get the drum majors on the field - I say all drum majors should be entering the field on the front side and be there as the last corps is ending. Most shows aren't "Drum Corps Nuts" they are people from the community coming out to a community event
  6. if i remember, they tried to use a internet connection in a garnders building that was outside the stadium they recorded and then ran it dow to the shed and posted it

  10. i'm not one for Booing! But maybe people should find other ways to voice their opinions on a corps show....they could make the corps they don't like into their hot dog corps and go eat and shop souvies during the show....they could leave the stadium before the corps play....or they could just not by a souvie from them as that hits them in the pocket book....so many ways to let your feelings known without booing.....OR you can rant on a message board.... Just remember the performers are kids :)
  11. my 2 cents - i think this is the type of show that needs some thing to clue the audience into, like have guard play a little baseball mime style, remember when Boston used the words to reinforce their patriotic show, and star with the screens of america backdrops...guard uniforms are too "pale" should be a bit more vibrant, more red white and blue....they need to clean up the forms/spacing and straight lines,,,,also would be cool if the could have "fireworks" streamers at the end and maybe a large flag opens up, maybe a mia/pow flag,,,cheesey i know but it gets the audience on thier feet....maybe throw in rolling thunder by sousa

Questions to be answered What changes will Bluecoats make, add new guard uniforms....add some "expected" visuals to make the show "read" better to the audience, should they bring the bleachers to the front and give the crowd a standing ovation at the end, or bring the bleachers and have the horn line climb them and give the audience a "Wall" of sound... will they add some more reframes of patriotic tunes to pull the crowd in further, like BD did with adding rhapsody in blue to their one show. will Boston find the red jackets behind door #3 will Blue Stars cast a spell this weekend Will the revolution overtake the Opera Will the crowd leave the stadium singing "1,2,3,4,5,6,7....1,2,3,4,5, 6, 7, 1,1,1,2,3,4,......"_ Will the judges loose count Will the Illuminati take down the secret society...... :)

Sooner or later DCI is going to have to reconcile the reality of the social media explosion, in the early days of social media the concert promoters, performers etc tried to control it, but now they have embraced it as they found out they got more exposure which resulted in more revenues to the point they are using social media to launch new songs, events etc.....in a effort to use it to their advantage. I understand their rational but in reality does a 1984 video of a former member corps who is folded, really a hurting dci if its posted and 24 people watch it? Have they done studies to see if having homemade videos on youtube hurt sales of performances (DVD/MPGS) or does it boost them up more? Are people who watch youtube really a dvd buying customer or are they just looking and will never buy anything, but they might go to a drum corps show if they like what they see.... also it gives our activity a historical window that DCI can't, and doesn't cost dci anything. People like seeing corps from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, 80s of corps no longer and were not a dci member or in their top 25.....
