  1. This should be a super team, is also nice to have your composer also be your caption head. Frank is a wornderful motivator and teacher. Good luck Blue Stars for another great season with a great staff in 2010
  2. i still say, when Blue Stars clean up their show and get healthy, you will see them make a big time move. Howerver, time is running out and hopefully they will peak at just the right time as they did last year!! Props to the guard!!! amazing
  3. I would not just yet count Blue Stars out of the top six mix. last year at this time they were behind colts, boston, bk, and glassmen. They have the show design once again this year and when it gets clean....which history shows they know how to do, I think they will be very competive with the likes of the phantom, bluecoats, scv grouping. time will tell.
  4. Blue Stars are quite dirty right now and are scoreing what they are. Last year at this time they were down by over 2 points to Boston and were being beat by Colts, Glassmen, and Blue Knights. Once the Blue Stars get their program clean... which I believe they will be able to do based upon past history, I do not think it is out of the question they will be very very competitive with some of the above mentioned corps. The overall design is there. I do not think it is out of the question at all that the Blue Stars may finish in the top six or even higher.
  5. this is really unfortunate. hopefully someone else who is talented and wanting to march with a great corps with a great future may be interested
  6. Keep in mind that up until 1980, the Blue Stars and Santa Claira were the only 2 corps to have made the top 12 every year since DCI began. Blue Stars, as was mentioned earlier, were there in the beginning and were considered one of the elite for their time with numerous top six placements. (not to mention top placements prior to DCI) They are now trying to regain that status, and with any luck, will be back to where they once were again.
  7. Great idea, I got my info today to sign up. Keep up the creativity on and off the field Blue Stars!!!!! Now go get um!!
  8. during phantoms show: "slit her throat and throw her down" which he did during the show on finals night quite violently, to the pt where her head bounced off the turf!!!
  9. ok, I will bite: 1 Cadets 2 Crown 3 Phantom 4 BD 5 Cavies 6 Blue Stars 7 SCV 8 Blue Coats 9 Boston 10 Madison 11 Blue Knights 12 Glassmen
  10. Much of this non-professional behavior during retreat could be avoided if DCI would simply go back to having the corps play themselves off the field. It used to be great to hear corps play their corps song etc... and then march past and salute the winning corps. This also non-directly taught respect, sportsmanship, and dignity..... something which seems to be lacking by some.
  11. I was there, observed the entire retreat, and this could not be any further from the truth. Was the staff excited when the score was read..absolutely. Did they cheer, you bet. But inappropriately so, no way. No more so than any other staff who was was emotional with where their corps placed for the year.... Certainly not for a corps who has come back from nearly folding just a few short years ago, being a founding member of DCI and not having been in finals for 29 years, scoreing the highest the corps has ever scored in its history, and returning to the big stage with an assertive 8th place finish. I was also impressed with the way the members of the coprs carried themselves througout the retreat. Great year Blue Stars and hope this is the start of even better things in the future. FCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. It is the Blue StarS, not just Blue Star, and there are many different forms of stars.....many which the corps has displayed on the field, as the logo, and on the uniform throught the years. The type of stars displayed has changed through the years as Dutch Cousin has rightly indicated. The 6 ponted star became more prominent in the late 70's and still holds a special place within the traditions of the coprs to this day. Nonetheless, they are all Stars displayed with great pannache and pride!!! now, go get em!!
  13. if this happens, and at this pt. it looks like it will, it will be a great moment in DCI and the corps history. One of the best stories of the year and in drum coprs history
  14. Great job Blue Stars!!!!! Sitting in 8th for the moment...Unbelievable story and year!!!! Go get em!!!
  15. Go Blue Stars!!!! fill that nice little 4pt gap between BC and Glass
  16. BLUE STARS!!!!! Just an Unbelievable story and year, and its not over yet!!! go get um!!!
  17. ok, as of today... 1-BD 2-Cavaliers 3-Phantom 4-Crown 5-Cadets 6-Bluecoats 7-SCV 8-Blue Stars 9-Boston 10-Blue Knights 11-Glassmen 12-Crossmen
  18. Amazing how the real stroy of the night has been overshadowed by the shako debate. A corps making a real surge to be back in finals (and not just squeaking in) since 1979 after almost folding just a few short years ago, having beat Boston for the first time since 1981, having a guard that has made unbelievable strides since last year, and being competitive enough to challenge for the 7 & 8th spot during the final 2 weeks of the season. Congratulations Blue Stars!!! I am just happy to see the coprs on the field and being competitive.
