  9. Hi everyone, as 2017 comes to an end, I thought that it would be nice to take some time to look back on the events that occurred in 2017. For starters, Blue Devils won their 18th title in 2017 and celebrated their 60th anniversary. Also in 2017, the Santa Clara Vanguard finished in 2nd and also celebrated their 50th anniversary as well. It was the first time Santa Clara Vanguard medaled since 2004. Also in 2017, the Cavaliers, the Boston Crusaders, the Madison Scouts, and the Mandarins made incredible jumps in 2017. The Cavaliers managed to slide into 4th place at DCI finals ahead of the Bluecoats, the Boston Crusaders finished in 6th place and beat the Cadets for the first time since 1980, the Madison Scouts made it back into the finals and finished in 12th place, and the Mandarins had their best season ever and finished in 13th place, their highest placement ever. They also finished the season with a 85.550, their highest score ever. Lastly, to conclude this list, we have Genesis and Music City. Genesis finished their very first competitive season in world class in 2017. They finished in 23th place and scored a 76.213, their highest score ever. And finally, the biggest headline for 2017 is Music City’s move to world class. Music City finished in 4th place in open class finals and finished in 24th place in world championship semi finals. In open class finals, Music City scored their highest score ever and scored a 76.763. In the world class semi finals, Music City scored a 74.275, their highest finish at DCI world class championships. Overall, 2017 was a great year and hopefully, we will have many great new story lines next year in 2018!

  11. After seeing the Blue Stars and Crossmen compete neck and neck with eachother all season this year, I began to wonder which corps might be in that same situation next season where they are right next to each other in terms of scoring and placement. My tight grouping predictions for next season are the following: Blue Devils v.s. Santa Clara Vanguard Santa Clara Vanguard v.s. Carolina Crown Bluecoats v.s. Cavailers Cadets v.s. Blue Knights Phantom Regiment v.s. Blue Knights Blue Stars v.s. Crossmen Madison Scouts v.s. Mandarins Troopers v.s. Colts Blue Devils B v.s. Vanguard Cadets Gold v.s. Do any of your predictions match any of mine? Do you agree or disagree with my predictions? Please comment in this thread and we will find out!
  12. After noticing that Music City finished 24th at the DCI World Championships and that Genesis finished 23rd right above them, I began to wonder who might score higher because they are right next to each other from a scoring standpoint. Attached is a poll and please vote for the corps that you think will score and place higher than the other.
  13. After hearing that Music City moved up to world class for 2018, I began to wonder what other corps might make it into either open or world class in the future. This list is my predictions: Predictions for future World Class Corps: Battalion - 2025 Legends - 2022 Louisiana Stars - 2027 Columbians - 2028 Guardians - 2025 Southwind - 2026 Predictions for future open class corps: Tall City - 2019 Arsenal - 2019 Encorps - 2019 Armada - 2020 Appalachian Sound - 2020 Vessel - 2018 Arbella - 2022 Hub City Guardians - 2018 Horizon - 2021 Cutting Edge - 2025 Again, these are my predictions and not are not factual. 14. Getting this thread going for next year for my hometown corps. Music City is looking for a full time director who lives in Nashville. I wonder if one of the dci alums in the city teaching elite BOA bands might be a good way to go. Unrelated: A parent of a Music City guard member told me she thought the corps was trying to move up to World Class next year. That seems risky, while bringing in a brand new director in the offseason. If they do move up, would they become the owner of the Nashville TOC show from a host and revenue standpoint?
  15. Just saw this pop up on Reddit. Thought I would post here.
  16. Here are the schedules for tonight's two shows. A Blast in the Burg -- Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania 7:08 p.m. -- Impulse 7:24 p.m. -- Stentors 7:40 p.m. -- Raiders 7:56 p.m. -- Music City 8:12 p.m. intermission 8:37 p.m. -- 7th Regiment 8:53 p.m. -- Legends 9:09 p.m. -- Spartans (all times Eastern) Percussion on the Pearl -- Muscatine, Iowa 7:18 p.m. -- Guardians 7:36 p.m. -- Louisiana Stars 7:54 p.m. -- Colt Cadets 8:10 p.m. Intermission 8:26 p.m. -- Gold 8:42 p.m. -- Vanguard Cadets 8:58 p.m. -- Blue Devils B (all times Central) Guardians' position in the schedule will throw off the judges a bit, I would guess. Genesis, River City Regiment, and Shadow have the night off.
  17. Please use this thread to report from Legends Drum Corps Open -- Three Rivers, MI 7:08 p.m. LakeShoremen (SoundSport) 7:18 p.m. Les Stentors 7:34 p.m. Raiders 7:50 p.m. intermission 8:10 p.m. Music City 8:26 p.m. 7th Regiment 8:42 p.m. Legends (times are Eastern) or Show of Shows -- Waukesha, WI 7:23 p.m. Kilties (all age) 7:39 p.m. Shadow 7:55 p.m. Impulse 8:11 p.m. intermission 8:41 p.m. Colt Cadets 8:57 p.m. Spartans 9:13 p.m. Blue Devils (times are Central) There should be no rain at either show. Last night in Troy, Legends beat Spartans by 1.5 pts., so it will be very useful to see how close Spartans can get to BDB tonight. Not to mention to see how Music City does against O.C. corps after their strong showing Friday in Nashville.

  21. Rhythm Across Rice Lake Friess Family Community Campus Rice Lake High School 30 S. Wisconsin Ave. Rice Lake, WI 54868 Monday, July 28 -- 7:00 p.m. (CDT) Corps:--Blue Saints --Music City --Racine Scouts --Spartans --Blue Devils B So last night's Greendale lineup, but with Music City in for Colt Cadets. Another show for which DCI says "ticket information ... will be available soon". No rain in the NWS forecast; temperatures expected to be in the upper 60s when the show starts. Can Spartans cut into BDB's lead? Or will BDB pull farther away? How close can MC get to the leaders? And will Saints be able to pass the 50 mark before the season ends?
  22. I feel like this question needs to be asked. What's your favorite vocal or vocal passage? I really dug the fast 1234 vocal with leg swings in the middle of crowns show last year. It made me uncomfortable in more of a curious way? Anyway the colts this season seem to be pushing the limits of their vocal cords with a constant stream of vocals to keep me interested. I heard that past presidents are even giving the vocals a shot in some shows. Having them in the show really makes it all the more genuine and official. Well the question still stands....tell me your favorite vocal! Everyone's opinion is invited and I want to hear many different voices!
  23. Music City is still accepting applications for the horn line and color guard. There are no openings in the percussion section currently. We invite any interested persons to submit an online application by clicking HERE. The corps' next camp is January 17-19. Pictured below are camp participants at Music City's December camp.
