Your Prayers Are Needed.....Please

Recommended Posts

Yep.... she remembers that night very well.... one of her favorite "war stories" from her Westshore days!

BTW, Barbara asked me tonight to thank each and every one of you....our drum corps friends.... for your cards, your prayers and your thoughts as she battles to recover. (Well, actually, she didn't ask.... she, instead, uhhhh....instructed me to put a post out on DCP. :) )

Quite frankly, the past two days or so have been a bit frustrating. The doctors had put Barbara on a medication aimed at boosting her energy level.... and it instead made her almost manic, to the point that she couldn't focus on any one thought or task for more than 20 seconds or so.....literally. One thing to another, to another, to another, over and over.

This went on for quite a while....until her nurses and I persuaded the resident on duty to discontinue that particular medication. I normally don't do this, but I got a bit "in your face Jersey guy" on the resident, regarding the use of that medication. Oh well...nothing personal. Once a Jersey guy, always a Jersey guy, I suppose.

Anyhow... Barbara was finally able to relax a little and got some sleep. I guess we'll take the good days with some bad moments, too. Bottom line... she is improving, albeit slowly. Much better than the alternative!

Fran...

Yes, many of us are very familiar with that particular technique! ("in your face Jersey guy"!)

Happy to hear that Barbara is improving, and our good thoughts continue to be with both of you!

Prayer and hope are so important. At times like this, I'm reminded of JFK's inaugural speech in which he says to remember, "...that here on Earth, God's work, must truly be our own..." Hope you continue to do God's work, hard as it may be, and recover to join us again as soon as you are able.

Hey Fran,

Sometimes the in your face Jersey is the only thing that works with some people. I love my Jersey attitude, being a transplant in Maryland too.

I am glad to hear Barb is making some progress. I will still keep her in my prayers. Take care of yourself too Fran.

Fran,

Glad to hear that Barb is doing better. Please tell her I said hello and get well soon. I also think back to the "old days" when her parents and mine would meet at DCA shows and chat.

I need a bit of prayer. I've been unemployed since January and this week I'm heading to Iowa for a job interview. Pray that I will get it and join all you at DCA next year (I think this year is pretty much done for).

Good luck Steve.... I hope you get that job!

Update...the interveiws went very well. I was there for over 2 1/2 hours talking with three divisions. It would be great to do any of them. Thanks all for you prayers (hope for more soon with more interviews coming down the pipe).
