Just a little bit of information about the show and the suitcases. When they decided to do the Criminal theme, one of the sources for inspiration was the movie "The Thomas Crown Affair." The suitcase gag comes from the ending of that movie when Pierce Brosnan is in the art gallery dressed in the hat and he has the suit case, but then a bunch of suit cases are seen held by guys dressed just like he is. Also, the portion of the show, in the ballad, where the guard is using the streamers in order to create the image of lazers, the idea was to recreate a scene from the movie "Ocean's 12" in which the NightFox breaks into the art gallery and has to navigate all the lazers.
