Alumni Spectacular Review anyone?

Recommended Posts

Caballeros: Watching the Cabs alumni while surrounded by my friends in the Cabs competing corps was honestly one of the highlights of my entire 07 season with the Cabs. I'm sure you all heard the cheers, but a lot of people around me were tearing up too. What can I say? You guys are great, and even for a newbie it is an honor to be involved in the same organization as all of you. I hope we make you as proud of us as we are of you.

Thank you, ohmarie! Yes, you all do make us proud each time you take the field. Congratulations on your season. You all worked so hard all season, and almost caught the champs. Best wishes for next year.

From one 'old vet alumnus' to a 'newbie:' Welcome to the family! It's a great one to be in, isn't it?

Ohmarie -

As one of the "I remember when" crowd, you and all of the current members do us proud. Your work ethic, devotion and dedication are so appreciated by us in the Alumni. The Alumni covers EVERY decade of Hawthorne's existence, and we are always proud of you guys.

Remember - we were what was, you are what is.

2008 will be great!!!

Really enjoyed this years edition of the Alumni Spectacular. Especially with the addition of Opti and Les Diplomates. Speaking of Opti.....I see there is an article on this site about "Building The Green Machine". Sorry......It was already built in the '60's and they were called The Toronto Optimists

The only thing missing during their show at Rochester was the "Fixed Bayonet" drill AND McConky.

I got to see 3 alumni corps.

Bridgemen: This is about the 3rd time I've heard your show this year but only the 1st I've been able to see it from the stands instead of the side or back of the field. So cool! The guard is really good--I would love to be on that rifle line. And I finally got to see what everyone was laughing about; that walker bit was so funny!

Les Diplomats: As a French Canadian type person myself, it was great to see you guys. I wasn't around when the original Dips were marching, but I've heard about it. 2 years of recruiting--that's amazing! The hornline sounded fabulous and I'm just so glad you all could make it.

Surely there are some willing to share their views on the Alumni show. Please don't make us wait until the next issue of Drum Corps World before we get some reviews!

I don't know about anyone else, but I was very disappointed to find there was no article in Drum Corps World reviewing the DCA Alumni Spectacular. Just about everything else about the weekend was written up, but virtually nothing about the Alumni except an occasional offhand comment here or there.

Maybe my copy had some pages missing? Perhaps the next issue will have an article?

Between no one doing a review and no article from DCW, It's a real bummer. Not only for us that couldn't be there, but for the performers like to know how the audience liked their show.

I know the feeling...It was the Toronto Optimists first time ( also the Les Diplomates ) at the Alumni Spectacular and only heard from people I know. Not a general feeling from the people that paid to see the show. It would be nice to hear what the paying people thought with an honest opinion.

You know John.....I thought exactly the same thing. And usually, Ace Holleran does a GREAT review of the entire show. He was the emcee if I remember, right? I was honestly surprised that NO ONE did any kind of review whatsoever.....not here or Drum Corps World!!!

NADA :doh::doh::doh::doh:

Hopefully, something will be in the next issue.

Hey John,

No pages missing. Steve had a small blurb that the Alumni Show would be covered in the next issue.
