Please Read Before You Post

If you *know* who it is.... please wait a while (not everyone is on here all day or even daily for that matter)

If there have been no Guesses..........Then give a *challenging* hint.

When giving hints on these try to be creative and just dangle the tiniest tidbit. Make people really think / work on it. Then wait it out a while before tossing another tiny vague tidbit...

C'mon we've got to make these last a little longer. PLEASE??

Also, any comments made MUST be made in good taste... this is a fun loving thread... not a revenge match. Please spew your venom elsewhere.

Please submit any questions and / or pics in their full size (preferably JPG format), with full description - names, Corps, Stadium, Year... etc. to:

The *Guess Who* Mailbox

Thanx in advance!

All that said and out of the way..

You'll never totally retire. Who are you kidding? LOL

So, yeah, I remember.... but, I just listen with a Drum Corps ear.

I did.

Weather was hot and humid... but not quite as bad as the furnace otherwise known as Baltimore. LOL.

Honestly, though... on days like these, I most definitely do not miss marching.

Thank you and duly noted!

Ok, I have to do this here... "here" as opposed to anywhere else....

I trust and rely on you folks. (Don't let me down)

I recently made a post on FaceBook...

"Why does it always seem that almost every Corps' street beat sounds like Sky?"

Some got a bit pissy about it... I followed it up with...

"It always sounds like some rendition of the same thing. Or is it just me?"

Oddly enough, I was flat out told that it was just me.

Does any one here know the background of the streetbeat? If so, please share!!

I have my own theories... but, I'd really like to hear it from those in the field.

Thanx in advance!!!

I'm probably wrong here but, it just seems like most (not all) Corps seem to take from the basic (Sky) . Just my opinion / observation here. I know I'm probably wrong here but, that's just how it seems in my ears / head. It all seems very familiar yet, with it's own twist.

The original street beat was played by the Phoebe Apperson Hearst Post junior corps of NYC ... they merged with The Grand Street Boys after WWII to form the Garbarina AL Post ... don't know who actually wrote the piece for Pheobe ... maybe Priester has more info ...

:-)
